Focus Goes Electric

The Focus Electric is now being listed as an option in the build and price option on the Ford website. Prices starting at $39,200 with a $7,500 federal tax incentive. I was not able to find an official range on the vehicle on the site but some sources are saying the range will be 100 miles, which really isn't that bad for a commute car IMO. (Unless you have a real long commute, then not so much)

Check it out:

That made me lol as well. Why put the darn option if there is no option at all! On the plus side though, it could be said its a manual transmission as there is no computer controlling it. Therefore I could buy it without feeling like I cheated on my MTX's.
I guess it all depends on how long it takes to charge, if you could get ~15-20 miles just while changing and getting ready to go out it wouldn't be that big of a problem. But if it takes a while you would have to take another car. And lets face it, you couldn't only own an EV vehicle with the ranges they have, you would have to have a regular car for long trips anyways so you could take that instead.

You can get a full charge in 3-4 hours with a 240 volt system, so realistically you could get an additional 25 miles just while getting ready to go out. Plus for $10,000 you could get a solar charging system....not sure why you would need one when most people drive during the day and charge at night.

$39k for an electric Focus? The crack must be really pure shit up there in Dearborn.

That's only $5000 above the Leaf, and it doesn't look like ass. Plus has a good amount of gismos in it too. :dunno:
^true. TBH I would probably still go with the Volt if I was in for an EV just for the fact you have an unlimited range if you keep filling it up with gas.
