Hey guys...I have the SE V-6 Auto Fusion and in the morning at start up the engine seems to "race" like a old carburated car!
it runs about 1,800 RPM seems like it's too high, and I have to kick it down with the throttle.
Anyone else experience this with the v-6??

I have noticed the same thing. When I decided to purchase my fusion I had the service dept take a look at that and they said it was normal. It is weird that it does act like an old carb engine.

LOL I think you guys a little too paraniod here. ALL cars do that when you first start them up. Trust me, its normal. Give it about 15-30 seconds and it'll kick down on its own.

Nope... had two NISSANS before this car and a FOCUS and none of them did it.
It seemes like it idles so high that I don't want to shift into drive and drive away like I have in other cars cuz I think it's bad for the tranny.
What's really weird is it does it even after it just sits only for a few hours on a hot day....engine shouldn't be even cold yet!!

Every fuel injected engine has a higher cold start idle even the Focus and Nissan. Some are just higher than others. Ans some last longer than others. It is for cat light off = less start-up emissions.

I agree. And, as far as I knew -- you can't really 'kick-down' a computer controlled car, let alone electronic throttle...

Don't know what to tell you...mine "kicks down" the rpm's when I give it a little gas after start up when ideling high after sitting for awhile...if I don't kick it down it sits and idles high for like a minute or two.....haven't had a car do that for years! (wastes gas too!)

It doesn't waste much gas. In fact, you waste more when you give it gas.

Thats a good point....guess I'll just give it a minute or so, I'm so impatient! :)

I've noticed that when I want to leave, I do NOT engage the transmission at the higher RPM. If you go quickly from Park to Neutral, it'll come down on it's own.
