I've been through 3 sets of License Plate lights on my Fusion SEL...What is the Deal with that?? Everytime I close the Trunk, POW There goes another Light. I have noticed that the Fusion Trunk is a little hard to shut compared to the Taurus which closes very very easy.

I have not had that prob. Are you buying good quality bulbs?

not sure about exploding or anything.. but today I've noticed that one of the bulbs is out.... I'll be sure to let them fellas at the service departments know about this when I'll go in for my 20,000K miles service next week.

Ours are still OK but we don't close the trunk all that much. Design flaw?

I've Made the Dealer Replace them all 3 times.... Just had another one go out....Make that 4 times....a little aggravating (my 05 Taurus still has the originals, for that matter my 97 SHO still has the original LP bulbs)

That is a very strange phenomenon. Ford should address this problem, but probably won't. Are the bulbs just burning out or just blowing when you close the trunk?

I just took mine in to the dealer over the weekend. I was told that there was water inside the lights. Apparently, whenever I wash my car, water manages to find it's way inside my light housing.

The situation was actually pretty funny. One day I saw that my left tag light was out and I was planning to take it in under warranty. The next day the light was back on. Then about a month later the same light went out once again, of course the next time I checked the right light was out while the left was on.....wtf?!?! :dunno:

my 06 had the same problem... water got in the housing....

except when I took off the cover the bulb fell out as well as a pile of rust where the contacts that hold the bulb in had rusted...


then to make it even better... I took it to the Ford garage to have it fixed, the service manager told me that I would have to schedule an appointment to see what was wrong with the car. Apparantely me taking the license plate bulb assembly in and showing it to him wasn't proof enough that the assembly was actually rusted....
