does anyone know if the standard 3-dial climate control can simply be swapped with the electronic climate control from a SEL or a Milan?

It is not simple. It's very complicated, if you can even do it on the Fusion.

I swapped out the rotary dials on my Ranger with a unit from an Eddie Bauer Explorer, and it was tons of wiring, relays, tubes and hoses.

I had an accord, and my manual climate controls went up on me. So i found a lx model with digital controls. When I removed the old climae controls, the harness for the digital eatc was plugged into a fake port. So it was a direct plug in. No sure specifically, but i know they are expensive.
