Do you guys have any recommendations for senior members?

Normally we make it on a purely mod decision, but we're having trouble coming up with candidates lately.

Any ideas from you guys (I'll be deleting this thread, so no worries about what you say)?

hmmmm...

3AndMe is the only chap that stands out as upstanding and consistently mature. However, his attendance drops off quite a bit with school, and he hardly posts outside of the Lounge anymore.

Beyond him, I can see why you guys are having trouble with new nominations. The vast majority of "veteran", knowledgeable members are already Seniors. I think we've seen quite a few new members appear that will definitely make good candidates after they've been here a little longer.

i dunno, i have been on here pretty regularly, but for some reason, i don't know shit about most ppl...i don't know screen names or post patterns or nothing... i mean, i do know most of the senior members, or know of...am i broken?

but i have noticed the increase in threads that i have absolutely no interest in reading...

If i may tell you of my expeiriences with the Protege community...

when it started out, there was one decent forum, but it was an email based and that was it's major downfall, the owners did not want to change that...so it spawned another forum...php based, so it was a little more *forum friendly*, It grew fast, there were alot of good solid members with great knowledge and it was the shit for a while. I was a mod over there from the early stages. Then it just grew into a PITA. The admins were slacking and getting more and more *power abusive* then was next to no communication between admin and mods, we ran the site and kept the order, but the admins would always override or do what they wanted anyway, when they actually came around the forums...then the waste of space members grew faster than bunny rabits can reproduce...it got way outta hand and just was no fun to go there anymore. Anyway, it got to the point that the core members had enough and ventured out to create the a new *authoritative* forum. This was mainly the 1st and 2nd gen crowd, while the 3rd gen guys had msprotege.

So we created a new forum, i was one of the admins and co-founders of these new forums, along with the majority of the mod crew from the *other* place, we were off to a tremendous start. It was a rocky road, with the old forums having to get their 2cents in and acting like 4 year olds trying to crush us. We held strong and perserviered (sp) and today we have ~4600 members and left the old forums in the dust...shit talking will always continue, but we did what we set out to do and we stand proud, and will continue to do so.

What i see here is similar, although the mod/admin crew is way more intune and not the root of the problem at all, it's the members. So this is a difficult situation, cause you're trying so hard to make this *thee* place to be, but the assholes are really fucking shit up. And to use ANY of the power giving to you, you immediately become the bad guy and get pumelled for cracking down...it's a rock and a hard place.

KRIKEY! sorry for the long ass post.....

ive noticed that also. around half of the topics in the 'unread posts since last visit' are in the lounge, and i dont care for most of the chatter that goes on there. because of that i only do maybe 2-3 posts per day now. i still read the forum looking for somthing interesting but i end up just zoneing out and reading 2 page arguments between members.

Haha...I get the same way sometimes. I feel sometimes like I can't keep up with new topics and posts and when I visit, it's just so overwhelming that I kind of just lose focus of what I came to do.

This is precisely why I rarely visit the lounge anymore. I primarily stick to the technical areas and try to help answer questions for the noobs. At least then I feel like I accomplished something.

How about AzMz3.....just kidding

How about Budgy....he has over 2500 posts I think, and he seems to be very fair about telling his opinions/knowledge, unlike he who is mentioned above

Ouch, that's a pretty good burn :bunnyd:

Hey - so I'm in the same boat as AutoXer - a while back, he was the only member whose posts I actually enjoyed reading who wasn't already a senior member.

I still think we need more know-how guys on the board; but those guys won't show up if there are lots of 16 year olds loafing around about how their dad uses Mother's but they want to use Zaino and then their dad won't let them and they're all mad about it. I don't visit MSPro very often any more; but I have a feeling it's about the same there; except they have a few more tech's on board.

Also, guys like the NSN Auto Tranny guy, Juan with HiBoost, etc always get trolled up each time they discuss one of their mods - and that makes them less likely to acitvely participate.

Hence why I think AzMz3 should just be banned outright. I don't care what type of discussions the guy is promoting for the sake of bettering the world - he just pisses people off and makes the forum a shitty place.

I really loved my old 3rd Gen Nissan Maxima board - it was basically a close knit group of guys who always helped out and basically did fun shit to their cars. I ended up giving away my Stillen front lip (when I sold the car) to one member 'cause he was so cool. I guess you lose the comraderie once a site gets too big; so I like the Senior Members sub-group. I just don't know who else to add to it since I can't discern who's making productive posts anymore.

My vote goes to: Joe Cheng and/or Roadster 6W 1.8T
i'm surprised joe isn't one already... post count isn't a requisite for senior member status...

Heh, my post count is inflated 1,000 posts higher than it ought to be anyway due to my account getting deleted ;)

how about sok07 (the dead pedal guy) or badger bike?
The only problem I see with Badger Biker is that he is a mod on a 'competing' forum (msprotege)....not sure if that matters or not? Otherwise he would be a good choice.
