im not sure how i should handle this, so ill just write my view on the issue.

dfmkevin is a friend of mine and is having some issues with some of the mods and admin here so he has asked me to see what i can do for him. he originally had a sig that was larger than regulation and was informed of it by a mod. he decided to change his sig to quote the PM sent from the mod about his sig size. he has since had that quote deleted from his sig twice. he now changed it to quote a message sent to him from an admin.

The right exists because I am the administrator and I say so, and I have all the discretionary authority I could ever care for.  I could coach it in nicer terms, and if you really like I could amend the rules further to say that explicitly, but I don't have the energy right now.

I just asked him to resize his sig. I didn't appreciate being quoted. Not trying to cause trouble, but maybe you could just tell him to not quote me. I even PMd him about it, but apparently he ignores PMs. I don't have capabilities to delete sigs, but I did ask politely for him to remove it. He didn't even have the courtesy to reply to my PM.

So now I'm getting PMs from other people about this. This is ridiculous, what kevin did was wrong, end of story. Quoting me would've been fine, but not his smart ass "are you happy now?" It was a simple signature request resize and it turns into this much shit?! It's ridiculous.

And as the site rules say Admin/Mods have the write to delete anything whenever. No reason needed. obviously there shoudl be a reason, but I have had numerous numerous people that have resized their signature for me with no need to be smart about it, so Kevin should respect that he was told to remove it without being smart, and should move on.

Just let bygons be bygons.  He was asked to do something... he thought he was "bigger than the mods"... he lost his sig & avatar privilages for the time being... end of story.  I personally don't have a problem with Kevin, but I completely support & understand the action that was taken to show him (and others) that there's no reason for immaturity of the nature he performed.  I think we need to back off of him a bit and just let him be, but at the same time... he (and his minions) need to back off of the mod team and understand that he f'ed up, and now he needs to serve the punishment (which is pretty small I must say).

When it's all said and done, and things have cooled off a bit, we'll give him back his privilages with the promise that he wont be a jerkoff again.

EDIT: And just so we're clear, the f'up wasn't his sig being too big... it was his actions afterwards.

And this whole bull about other people sigs being to big........ Whenever I see one that's to big I pm the person, and many times SM's bring up large sigs. So dude shouldn't feel singled out. A mod asked him to do something/ he didn't comply/ and admin deleted his sig/ he did it again/ he is now without. End of drama.

I PMd another member about a signature that was too large and was kinda nervous about it b/c of the backlash from asking kevin to resize his sig, but the other member was more than happy to comply with no issues. I don't know what was so hard about resizing, apparently it's difficult for kevin. :?

Kevin seems like a nice guy and all... but Carolyn's request was made for all to see. Her request was polite, concise and professional. There was absolutely no provacation on her part. ...and yeah.. I ask members to resize their sigs regularly. The guy that claims otherwise is full of shit. Whether or not other people get away with is IRRELEVANT. Kevin was asked nicely and he made a big deal about it. Any flak he's taking for it is completely his fault.
