Got mine last weekend. SEL, FULLY loaded with every option available. Drove it from Fort Worth to Houston. Got the only fully loaded SEL in Tungston Silver Metalic in Texas (at the time anyway). She's fast. I was varying my spped on the way home and found myself accidentaly doing 90 mph twice (the engine does high speed very quietly). Got 25 mpg on the way home. Been driving it around town and have gotten 22.5 in houston traffic, NOT BAD! The sun-roof works extremely well with the one-touch feature. I was a little dissapointed that the "tinted windows" that the dealer listed are solar tint, not dark tint, I want them as black as allowed by the law, not see through... The dealership did not have the parts to install the factory alarm, so I got a discount on that and will get it installed as soon as the get the part. The only really dissapointing thing is the analogue clock... Love the color (it has a very slight irradescent purple or blue sheen), Love the interior (though it feels a little pleathery), love the drive.

I know you said that it is fully loaded, but does that mean you got a V-6? If so, what do you think about the transmission? I heard that it is the weakest link and it sucks that there is no manual shifting for the AT.

Yes I have the v-6 and I love the engine! I fear they might not do as many aftermarket tweaks for it, but I love it... The transmission is very smooth, but sluggish in 1, 2 and 3 (I'm betting that this is to improve fuel efficiency). It's a six-speed automatic with only to options; D and L...

Let's hope so :) I think ford may be surprised at how many 6's they sell, for three reasons:
1) They are still relatively fuel efficient.
2) They are marketing to the NASCAR crowd, who will barely be caught dead in a 6 much less a 4 (V8 fans)
3) The 6 is still very affordable

That's just my take but I think you may be right too... The volume of international sales will be mostly 4's.

All I want is a turbo/supercharger. I could care less about all the rest. I want the car to look stock and haul tuned 8) I've got a couple extra g's to make that happen, but no place to put them as of yet... I have my eye on what Draxas is doing, but again, that's for the 4cyl...

PS

I already found a ding in my car! Argh, and only after a couple of days! I took it to a guy who works at a Lotus/Mercedes/Aston Martin dealership and he was able to work it out with a rubber mallet and pestle. It was neat watching him work that sheet metal back to its original shape... Well anyway, he was drooling on the car! He kept saying that it was the best thing he'd seen out of Ford's shop in decades. He even asked how much I paid for it and at which dealership! This is the second guy that has asked me if he can sit in my FORD! It's really hard for me to believe the responses I've seen. And the last came from a guy who works on six digit cars all day and who drives a Lexus. Made me feel great about my decision. He said the sheet metal felt good and thick, I don't know if that is good or bad, but I'll assume that's good. From a racing perspective, I would guess that the added weight would be a detriment, but as a family guy, I think it has value.

Hope I'm not boring you boys, just want to continue sharing my experience... GO FORD! I'm proud to own one of your cars again after having owned a VW and currently driving a GMC Sierra.

In response to the "shifting" observation, I think it is very accurate, but that is how Ford is squeezing gas milage out of this car. Slower revs during acceleration is one easy way to increase MPG.

I don't mind the knob on the handle actually, but wish that the tranny had another drive option.
