Spent a stressful hour driving recently in heavy rain...major kudo's to the grip and ability of the standard continental 16" tires. I was already impressed with their dry handling and quietness, now I wonder how they'll handle some midwest snow this winter. BTW, I had no problems with the wipers, and felt they worked very well. Also, even in a heavy downpour driving at 50-60mph the car is still remarkably quiet.

Surprisingly the tires do well. I was very discouraged with Ford Tires after the Goodyears on my wife's Focus only lasted 15,000 miles (which were all easy miles).

These Conti's seem to work very well after 15,000 with normal wear and tear. Last year in the snow that did OK on the hills in Pittsburgh in 3-4 inches of snow. If you are really concerned, I would get a set of snows.

Thanks for the info on the snow handling. We rarely get enough snow around here for me to justify a set of snow tires...but we used to 20 years ago! I have no local dealer for these tires so I hope I don't develop any problems. So far I'd give them a solid "A" grade.

The week after I bought my Fusion I got about 7" of snow dumped on me. The Contis did great I dont think the traction control kicked in more than 3 or 4 times. Stability was good too. Rain performance was also excellent. I will keep the stock wheel/tire combo for winters.
