Bought a 5spd Fusion S in July. Since I've had it, I have noticed on several occasions that when I let the clutch out in reverse, the back right wheel area makes a loud bang before the car starts to move. The first time it did it I thought I ran over a tennis ball. It dosent do it all the time, but it usually does it when I am backing strait out of a parking space or my garage. Also, has anyone else had trouble with clicking hubcaps? I noticed the day after I bought my car that the drivers side front hubcap made an annoying clicking sound. Took it to the dealer and they couldnt find anything wrong with it. They said they had a lot of complaints about the fusion hubcaps but ford hasnt decided to do anything about it. After I brought it in the clicking disappeared so I dont know what was causing it.

Not sure about the clunking, I would have the dealer look at the rear suspension and check all the bushings. On my SHO I had a similar issue and it was a strut bushing.

The hub caps use a metal clips all the way around and they a horrible at being loose. They click all the time at slower speeds. I purchased new wheels for my S and no more noise. Also the handeling is much better withthe larger wheels and tires.

Brake pad issue is correct. It has happened to me a few times. Usually after it has rained or lots of humidity.

i had the same problem with my front driverside wheel as well, turned out being a rock in my tire! on a serious note, i think i have the same problem with my car going in reverse. when i put it in reverse, and actually start backing up, i hear a banging noise. at first i though it was something in my trunk rolling around, but after a quick inspection, that wasn't it. i'm not a mechanic or anything, but i think its coming from the rear driverside suspension bushings or the spring itself.
