I noticed today that the chome handle on the front passenger side is "bubbling". I'm assuming its due to the recent heat wave, but I expected better quality on the interior pieces.  I'm going to take it in to the dealer to see if its covered under warranty. Anybody else have this problem?

take it in...
they should be aware of it...
they were "chromed" in China, they know of the problems.

the other problem is the latch cracking/breaking on the end (the end that goes into the door when you pull out on it...hope that makes sense)

Anyone know if there is a TSB for the interior door handles?

Hi Boz, I could be wrong, but I doubt there would be a need for a Technical Service Bulletin. It is not a very "technical" problem. If our door handle finish bubbles, it is replaced under warranty. Simple to see the problem, simple to cure.
TSB's are normally (but of course not always) geared to explain and cover more elusive problems, that would be harder to diagnose. Often the type that are harder for the Technician to re-create by driving the car around for 10 minutes, or are elusive to the diagnostic system..
Of course, just to prove me wrong, Ford will release a TSB on the door handles tomorrow! :dur: :D

BBF,
Thanks for the explanation. It was a good one. Prior to buying our 2007 SEL AWD Fusion on Dec. 4, the last new car we purchased was a new Focus station wagon in February 2000. I didn't have the time to spend on the Internet then and about the only thing I was aware of was recalls. The Focus was subjected to a few of those. I don't believe there has been one yet on the Fusions. Knock on wood. Boz

Looks like my door handle is experiencing a similar problem so a repair is in order (drivers door) just one blemish but thats enough

How noticeable is it? We have "sister" cars and I haven't noticed any problems with the handles ... yet.

Well I've never really scrutinized door handles before but I noticed it when grabbing the handle its sort of pitted like maybe the bubble popped?

Mine is more pronounced. The whole chrome handle has physical waves in it like the plastic cured wrong or was heated after and warped. When I look at the 07's they don't look like this.
Plus as I said before my handle broke and I have to hold it closed now for the front door to lock. It sounded like a spring broke behind the handle, along with the crack in it.

My passenger side:

Drivers side has a slight bubble, rears are ok. Gonna let the dealer know before my next scheduled oil change, they can fix it then.

It's normal, I've replace about 4 of them so far on customer cars under warranty. It's an easy, fast replacement. It's only a matter of time in my opinion. I'd put money on the chrome push in button on the auto shifters are going to start doing the same thing. :x
