As I've heard before "No highs, no lows, it must be Bose". Also, "Bose, higher profits through advertising" instead of "Better sound through research". I've had a lot of cars with Bose systems, and I would give them a B-. If you factor in the extra cost on a new car, I'd lower it to a C. Check out a Bose car speaker sometime- paper cone, small magnet- really poor quality in my book.

As for their home equipment, I wouldn't touch it unless my #1 priority was being able to hide the speakers. And if that's the case, there's plenty of better products out there with small speakers and bass modules like the Bose.
not the subject but to continue on Bose... honestly it is only good at real low to mild volumes. They do a pretty nice job with getting a good sound out of a small box, but thats all because of air flow. Like said above, Id say $30 in speakers, maybe $75 in research and $400 to promoting lol.

Luckily I live next to Canada, and their is a manufacturer in Canada called Paradigm. They have some nice beginning, intermediate and professional lines of equipment. Over in Canada when the exchange rate kicked ass a while back, I got some incredible deals on their professional series and thats what I use for home theatre. There is a nice store in Windsor that has an awsome controlled room where you can really hear the differences in quality, which is something you cant get a best buy or circuit city. Even some newer BBs and CCs have seperate rooms but they dont isolate worth poop lol.

Did anyone find out what wire gauge the audiophille amp uses? I know if you want to use the speaker and remote turn on (if it has it) wires, thats fine, but if you want run higher watt amp your best to run a new power and ground.

I am familiar with Paradigm as well and they do make good stuff.
I know I'm slightly biased, having worked at Harman Becker Automotive Systems (Mark Levinson, Infinity, JBL, Harman/Kardon, Becker, etc.) but I must say Bose sound is crap. If you want real sound, you have many options that will blow "Blows" away.
My wife's new Hyundai Entourage has the Infinity upgraded stereo with surround sound. Overall a good sounding stereo- but the bass can't match my 12" JL sub :D
well not all bose car audio is crap. Go listen to the one in the new Cadilac Escalade & STS. I heard that GM designed the speakers\ locations; just had Bose do Eqing and put Bose badge on it for better "brand" image.
OK - I looked at TWO cars on the lot today that had audiophile systems. Although BOTH of them had those nice conservative speaker covers that I will eventually own for MY 6x9's, I didn't notice that EITHER of them had an amp.

Both of those 6x9's were only 45W RMS. This is nothing. I DID notice an installed CROSSOVER, but there was NO amp.
Do those Caddy's have the in-seat speakers by the headrest? The majority of buyers want those things TURNED OFF within a month of buying the car. As of a year ago...it wasn't a built-in feature to turn those things off.

An ML sytem will blow away "BLoWse" for sound quality, clarity, soundstage, imaging, etc. anyday.

And yes, many times the OEM designs the system and just has the audio supplier do the EQ and place some badges throughout the vehicle.

THX is a whole different story. THX is a certification, not a manufacturer. The badging on Lincolns is THX but they certified the system, they didn't manufacture it.
Ming,

HBAS doesn't try to put out huge bass. They try to give the truest replication of recorded sound.

If they wanted to put out huge bass they sell subs that will do the job quite well but that isn't their goal in designing integrated audio systems.

maybe the amp is behind the dash. I think some of the older ford cars that had a upgrade put the amp behind the dash. The audiophille system in the 07 escape is in the rear next to the pos sub (excuse my french but my friend has it and it sucks)
Well, I bought some Boston Acoustics S953's today and am going to install them. They are 45W RMS and have peak power 140. I'm going to have to run an amp to them, so here I go trying to find out what will work best.
I hate to bump this, but I got the covers in today and they don't seem to articulate well at all with the non-Audiophile setup.

There appears to be some sort of housing that I'm missing - something that interfaces with the speaker cover and then to the panel, but I can't seem to find what the hell it is. Unless I'm smokin' some weed, I have no idea how to get these covers to work with the current setup.

Does someone with the Audiophile system want to help me out please?
OK, again I got curious and impatient and, as a result, answered my own question.

For those of you who want to add the audiophile 6x9 setup to the non-audiophile setup, it not only requires purchasing the speaker covers, but the whole damn back dashboard trim piece, which costs 170 bucks.

But, guess what? It comes with the speaker covers that I already have!!!!

Does anyone with an audiophile system and Camel interior need some speaker covers?? :) I didn't think so  (Sighs.....)
3-5 watts RMS? Put down the pipe!
