xxtremeteam,
I found this site on the Internet that sells them for $59, custom painted, plus shipping. Sounds like a good deal but I am curious about the reception range and possible leakage. Boz

i got it here in korea for about $8 bucks, it has a metal coil inside the rubber/plastic material. Hardest part is trying to get the fin striaght (used tape measure). As far as reception go's, the radio comes in a little bit better, but it may be because of the new headunit i installed.

Hey, I have the Fusion S so mine has no visual antenna. However, I have always wanted a shark fin. I just want it for the look, so I won't worry about it being connected to my radio. Thanks for finding that site!

Hey, I found a dummy shark fin on E-bay. I am glad I don't have to pay $60 for the real one. I am thinking about getting it, but I am afraid if it will look cheap and the color won't match exactly.

Re: antenna SHARK FIN FOR FUSION

I spent hours looking for a decent shark fin antenna that would be FUNCTIONAL for am/fm, sat radio. I found the VG site and ended up finding an abundant ammount of info from a long thread on the toyota prius forum concerning this same shark fin antenna.

The verdict from the Prius members who ordered this part : The paint jobs were mediocre and appeared to be just heavily sprayed on with a can.....the fin does NOT improve radio reception at all, but if your looking to sacrifice quality sound for visual looks....then toss your 70 bucks at them.

They don't have the Fusion model listed on their site but I have seen another member here who has one so I am sure the fin would fit a Fusion.

Personally I am going to wait until a more quality solution appears.

At least the ricer forum was good for something. Those guys were all stoked about ordering it and when the guys received their product and reported back it was not very favorable.

isnt that just like the antenna that the 07's come with?

The '07 Fusion antenna is definitely not a shark fin. It has about an 8-inch mast that protrudes from the base unit. I think they abandoned the rear window antenna because of the Sirius radio option.

Yes, The roof mounted antennae is standard on all Job #2 Fusion / Milan & Mazda 6, whether you have Sirius or not. Not happy about it, I think it looks like CRAP. This was a Ford " Better Idea ", by who :dunno:
PLEASE put it back in the rear window , where it belongs, unless you option the sirius radio.
Hoping for a reasonable priced shark-fin replacement, like on the Lincoln MKZ's. Black or color-matched, I don't care, JUST MAKE IT GO AWAY !!!

I've had a pretty extensive internal debate with myself about this. One day I want to get a functional shark fin, one day I want to keep my antenna in the glass, and another day I want to get one of those antennas that come stock on the 07's. Before I upgraded my speakers I used to think that it was my ANTENNA that was causing my radio reception to be so horrible.

When I had this "head unit that didn't actually fry on me debacle," I was using the HU from an F150 for about 3 days. The reception with an F150 HU was CRAP in comparison to the Fusion's unit. CD playing quality was the difference between night and day. The quality of the stock Fusion HU was a heck of a lot better than I thought it was.

Now that I upgraded my speakers and added a pair of 6x9's to the rear, I realized that my SPEAKERS were actually my shortcoming of my reception "sheetiness" and NOT the antenna. My stock HU with the upgraded speakers can go toe to toe with any aftermarket HU when it comes to playing regular radio feed and CD feeds. I just don't see the quality of the aftermarket units being any better that you can actually tell an AUDITORY difference. It is my OPINION that, unless you put some SERIOUS high end speakers in your car, anyone who says they can tell a difference with basic or even mid-level Boston Acoustics, Alpine, Polk, or Kicker speakers is probably trying to justify spending $100 or more on an aftermarket HU when it wasn't completely necessary.....of course, unless you wanted a DVD/Nav or HD radio. No offense to anyone, but that's my 2 cents.

So, now I only want to get a shark-fin antenna for "the way it looks." But, after seeing them on some of the Euro cars, I am just fine with my current antenna that's in the glass and don't think I'll be changing it anytime soon.

Not sure if I missed it or not, but those of you that have 07 Job 2 vehicles might be able to get away with the fin antenna used on the MKZ, Five Hundred and Montego. Not sure what functionality they have (AM/FM and Sat Radio or just Sat Radio) but it would be worth the try.
