Yes its in there, and it comes out. As far as seat of your pants performance, hard to tell. Give the motor the nice big intake growl tho. I think it give it a nice sound with about 12 mins of work.

If anything, I noticed once the car hits its power band, it really kind of kicks it up a notch, and also gives you that throaty growl.

The only thing you'll gain is sound. Any change in the intake that would significantly increase airflow to the point of actually gaining performance would also require a retune of the PCM. These newer Fords run quite lean in stock trim, and any change made to the intake setup that flows more air is going to make that worse. It's just not worth the risk for the very minimal gains in HP.

How does it come out? Wheel off and inner fenderwell off? Or can it be taken off from inside the hood. thanks for the help. going to order my K&N drop in filter so will more than likely do it when i get that in.

Raise the hood, take out the entire intake box assembly. Remove everything eles you wish accordingly.

Well it was warm enough yesterday to take a look. Just to see what it sounded like i took the air inlet tube that connects the silencer and the air box off. I love the sound. when i get the K&N next week i will take the silencer all the way out and pit the inlet tube back on so it gets air from down and in the fender.

Why not just wait for the Jusnes CAI (with the excellent Amsoil Ea filter), then add his superchips tuner? You'll have better performance and much better dirt filtration.

Do not want to spend $700 on an intake and programmer. Way to much money for the little it gains.

Yep that is my thinking as well this is not my race car i have an 85 LX T-Top mustang with a 350 hp 306 in it when i want to go fast and let the wind blow thru my hair. Removing the silencer and adding a panel filter will give me a little MPG and maybe 1 to 2 hp but the sound is what i want. And it sounds very good. Stock from idle to 3K but then at WOT over 3K it sounds great.

Looks like a lot of us are 'Stang guys. I recently sold my '86 GT.

slaterracing, I just had a look at yours - nice. It must sound great but be super loud when you stand on it with those 2.5" duals & 2 chamber 'Flows that dump at the axle. What's it run in the 1/4?
