So... There I Was... @ 2am.. Driving down the long and lonely 405North...
Lonely, really...
So I figured... "Hey, there is no one around for miles..."
So next thing you know.. I'm trying to see @ what speed the fusion will top at...

...Anyone tried the same yet? Well, I was HELLA Disappointed....
the fusion topped at 110mph.... There is a freaking SPEED BLOCKERon 110mph @ 4500rpm !!!!!!!

All I know is, they better come up with a performance chip that unlocks that damn blocker... Otherwise is a pure waste of my 3.0 V6 6-speed automatic engine/transmission!!!

especially I-5, that road is so straight it would be dangerous to drive below 110mph!

they should get rid of the speed limit on I-5
Hhaha... why not.. make it an auto-bahn... I wouldn't mind even though I swore that I'de never take another trip that direction!!!
:dur:
yeah i thihnk its a perfect autobahn, since the left lane is the fast lane and the right lane is the slow lane
... indeed so.... boy do i miss the autobahns in germany.... my dad any i had such good times driving around there... ofcourse back then my dad was the one to drive...
ttt for american autobahn

need to make a petition or somethign

Hahah... well shoot, you got my vote!

btw .... just to prove the argument about speeds:
Our MVFR (Motor Vehicle Fatality Rate) is 45.8% higher than Germany even though Germany has no speed limits on their Autobahns, 70% of their drivers drink alcohol and drive, and they consume 55% more alcohol per capita.
.... which is indeed true.

it is completely serious, if it is a long and straight road. since drowsiness has to do with most fatal crashes, speeding can actually be safer, just as long as you are in control.
The problem is that you are never in control.
If your that tired, pull over and take a nap.
you are always in control at 110 mph in a modern vehicle.

pulling over on a highway shoulder is dangerous, you might get hit
You are never in control of everything. If you are, then I will bow down to you.

I am not trying to be a smart ass, but anything can happen, there is no such thing as a controlled environment on the open roadway. Your braking distance is more then doubled and your reaction time is much less at the speeds you mention. Have you ever had a tire go at 60 mph? If so imagine that at 110 mph. Have you ever hit an animal while driving? have you ever been cut off by somebody that is preoccupied on their phone? Do you take your foot off the accelerator and place it over (not on) the brake pedal when going through an intersection?

It might be me, but after seeing the end result of speed and careless driving for the last 12 years and driving emergency vehicles (along with the necessary training), I have gained a certain outlook of driving and its hazards.

And you're right, never stop on the shoulder of the road unless it is your only option. If you do, pull off as far as possible and try to angle your car a little bit with the rear towards the road.

i drive at 110mph but if there is any danger of collision, my foot is on the brake pedal. my foot is usually almost always on the brake pedal no matter what. i am a safe driver.

Anyone who thinks driving at 110 mph all the time is safe is clearly delusional. If you actually thought it was safe you wouldn't have you foot almost always on the brake pedal. So you drive at 110 on cruise control with your foot on the brake all the time? You are NOT a safe driver
An overcautious driver is often a dangerous driver ...

The safest speed is the speed at which the flow of traffic is heading. If everyone is driving 70, keep a good distance and keep up. A driver who insists on driving faster (oh, let's say at 110) is creating dangerous situations for himself and others. The same goes for slower drivers.

no i dont use cruise control. i drive an automatic and my left foot is on the brake pedal

Sweet technique.... Does that work well for approaching the turn into McDonald's @ 110 mph?
Such hilarious generalizations here!

Driving fast is safer!
Being a cautions driver is dangerous!
Its been proven that a distracted driver is dangerous!
Its been proven that a sleepy driver is dangerous!

Driving too fast gives you no time to react. If someone pulls out in
front of you .. !!BAM!! .. and you think its gonna be their fault?
Hah! If the accident investigation finds out you were speeding you
are partially at fault, if you were ciminally speeding, you will all
at fault.

The best driver is;
(1) Driving the speed limit,
(2) Fully alert at the wheel expecting anything to happen,
(3) Trying to predict the actions of all the drivers around him,
(4) Looking a mile ahead,
(5) Trying to predict what might go wrong.

I'm usually (2, 3, 4) so I guess three out of five ain't bad! :)

you obviously missed the point. Driving speed limit will cause people to fall asleep. If you drive 130mph you get an adrenaline rush so you won't fall asleep. Basically i get fatigued more easily when the gas pedal is half depressed. Full throttle is the only safe way.

obviously 110mph is only safe on the highway (and highway is the only place where you need to drive long distance, such that you may want to fall asleep).

local driving is completely different. there are traffic lights, pedestrians, scooters, and other cars to prevent you from falling asleep.

but highway driving, 130mph is safer than 100mph.
Dude - I usually don't like to reveal someones identity online, but is this you?

Seriously, what world do you live in? Are you and the scare crow looking for the same thing?

Eh .. I wouldn't worry about it .. drive that fast very often and you'll get caught.

Get caught driving that fast, and you'll get some nice accesorizing jewlry, and a free ride.
