So... There I Was... @ 2am.. Driving down the long and lonely 405North...
Lonely, really...
So I figured... "Hey, there is no one around for miles..."
So next thing you know.. I'm trying to see @ what speed the fusion will top at...

...Anyone tried the same yet? Well, I was HELLA Disappointed....
the fusion topped at 110mph.... There is a freaking SPEED BLOCKERon 110mph @ 4500rpm !!!!!!!

All I know is, they better come up with a performance chip that unlocks that damn blocker... Otherwise is a pure waste of my 3.0 V6 6-speed automatic engine/transmission!!!

The 6 has a blocker @ 120... I assume the minimum tire on the Fusion is an H-rated one, which is only rated around there.

Regardless, when do you ever need to go faster? Even if you drag race it, you'll never pass 110.

I assume a FordChip.com flash (see their section in this forum) might be able to change that though - ask them.

I picked-up the V6 SEL 3.0L on the 15 HWY to Las Vegas to 115-120 MPH. The engine shut-off at 118-120 MPH. But I do not like to go at those acelerated spped because I feel unsafe and no street car is meant to go above 85 MPH (my personal opinion, ok). :csweeney:

OK that' what I thought, it was at 118-120 (I forget what the exact speed it was). 110 surprised me.

it either was 110 or 115... could really get a good focused look at the speedometer at at speed like that... but i'll try and take a picture ... deal?
And yes, parhaps street cars are not meant to go in triple digit speed... never the less.. if they are not.. then its completely pointless having a 6 speed transmission with such an engine as 3.0 v6... my opinion... :violinbash:

The SE has tires that are, at best, H rated. While that's good for 130 MPH, I doubt Ford wants the liability for anyone that tries to get there. 110 is awfully fast for public roads. I wouldn't be surprised if it's got a limiter at 110; it's not marketed as a performance car.

PS I'll find out where the limiter is on mine and post up.

I can agree with this 100%. Theres times I need those get-a-ways from time to time, especially living in congestion of traffic (our freeways).

Worst freeway I took was at 3PM from Ventura, CA to El Monte, CA. Took freeways 101..,134..,210...605..,10 FRWY. Took 4.5hrs. On my last trip from Las Vegas on a Sunday I came back early at 11:30AM made-it back to my home at 7:30PM, the 15 FRWY is a complete nightmare on the way back and a complete nightmare going on a Friday evening. :bash: :bash: :grr: :loco:

i find that if you drive on a long trip, driving 130mph and weaving might actually be safer than driving 85. This is because you get to the destination much faster, so much less chance of getting drowsy, and also, you are more concentrated on your driving. If you drive 6 hours at 85, you are much more likely to doze off than if you drive 4 hours at 130

it is completely serious, if it is a long and straight road. since drowsiness has to do with most fatal crashes, speeding can actually be safer, just as long as you are in control.

This is why the Autobahn has a lot of curves in it. The more you have to concentrate on driving, the safer you are. Americans tend to do everything BUT drive.

well I agree to the whole speed theory... about 2 year ago.. I was unfortunate enough to drive from frenso, ca to los angeles,ca... left fresno at 2am for the drive... the drive is about 3 - 3.5 hours...

when I was driving about 73mph... I've started to fall asleep.. like badly.. to the point where i had to yell at myself to keep myself awake.. but even that eventually stopped working.... so I figured I'de speed a lil to parha[s increase an adreniline rush or something... and you know what? It worked.... all the way home, I was driving at about 100 - 105 mph and never had the sence of falling asleep... not even once.

(surprisengly enough, I didnt get pulled over.. which accured to me only once i got home...)

and yes,,, European cars RULE!!! and who gives a damn about some cup holders.....

dang, i thought this was common sense, but you are the first person who agreed with me.... We need to spread the word!!! and hopefully get the speed limit increased
