I saw that someone was talking about how it would be possible to change the a-pillar tweeters, but I have not read about anyone actually doing it. I was wondering if anyone has actually swapped them out with something nicer. Thanks in advance

I'm actually refering to the whole component setup. When I had my Focus I had the Polk db-6500 (I think). Good speakers, if not a little harsh on the highs. Anyway, in the Focus I had the crossover in the door, and the tweeter was mounted on the door itself. It looked alright, but I want to get some nice components that could hide the tweeters where to stock ones are. Just want to research a little before making the purchase. I think it would be cool to keep the stock look of the doors and still be able to make your ears bleed.

IMO components are the way to go if you have the $$$. I didn't have the $$$ so I went with upgraded 2 ways in the door with an amp. You should be able to put components in the doors and a pillars without much problem- except maybe finding a place to put the crossovers. Also, I've always heard (and read) that you need an amp to push the components. The 2-5 watts the factory deck is pushing ain't gonna cut it. I always recommend www.crutchfield.com, both as a reputable place to shop/buy, but also a good place to get advice and reviews.

I'm not that familiar with the brands you are considering, but as long as you've had good experience with them in the past, or someone you trust recommends them, then go for it. My only reservation would be mounting anything in the rear deck. I seen some post where people with the audiophile (8 speaker system- with 2 in the rear deck), have had bad vibration problems. Also, since most of the sound you hear comes from your front speakers, I'd just upgrade my rear doors to something "better than stock".

The way the tweeter is mounted, you can only use the Ford tweeter.....I took a bunch of 3M black window seal calk and squished the aftermarket tweeter into that. After almost a year, they're still there!
