While traveling on the freeway today at 80 MPH @ 2400 RPM. I noticed that if I took my foot of the gas pedal that the tach would go to 3000 RPM. It feels as though the torque converter is unlocking while coasting at that speed. After allowing the car to slow to 75 from 80, I lightly placed my foot back on that accelerator and cruised back up to 80. It took at least 15-20 seconds for the torque converter to lock back up again. Anyone else notice this?

Did you have your cruise set? The only way I'd be able to duplicate that, is if I set my cruise say at 75, and then applied the accelerator until I got to 80, and then let off. It would use an engine braking type thing to slow me back down.

Ditto..
If I have my cruise control set to 80 (for example) and I happen to accelerate to 90mph (while the cruise control is set to 80mph), when I let go of the gas pedal.. and computer will using the engine's high revs to slow dow the car to the selected 80mph speed.

Other than that, I have nothing.

Do YOU drive using the "speed limit" as a guideline? If so, buy a Honda.

What state do you live? I want to drive where the speed limit is 80! That's cool!

The speed limit is 65 on I-696 from Southfield to Detroit. If you are going less than 85, you are a major road hazard.
