My first was at 2,440 and now the second at 5,075.
I do the first two at pretty low miles, and now I'll start going every 5,000, I think.
Nothing in the oil, no shavings, and it looked darn near how it looked when I put it in. Was a darker shade of brown, however. I used the Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 5w-20 for both changes along with the FL820s filter.
Next change, I'll be running some Mobil 1 synthetic along with the Mobil 1 filter. That will do me good for 5,000 miles, eh?
Did a nice thourough job of looking around the car's underside for anything that looked wrong. Welds starting to come apart, hoses splitting, connections becoming loose, anything out of the ordinary. Nothing found. All the connections, welds, fitting and hoses look great. Exhaust is holding up well, [soon to be replaced anyway] and all is good!
Brakes are doing great, nice even wear on them and the tires as well. I keep between 32 and 33 pounds in the tires.
The only thing I am not liking is the valve cover on this thing is so ugly! It's the bare aluminum and it's starting to pitt. Makes me want to pull it off and chrome it or at least paint it. Nasty!
Anyway, after 5,000 miles, this beast is finally boke in, running like a champ and leaving me with no complaints [besides the cover].
For what it's worth, after around 3,000 miles with the air-box modification, there was NO sentiment in the bottom of the air-box. I live in Pensacola and I frequent the beach often. I get sand everyplace, but there wasn't none in there. Maybe a few particles of it, but not like a sand castle or nothing. I recommend doing the air-box mod. This car really likes to breathe.
Also, while I am thinking about it... The exhaust on the V6 Fusion is not as nut-routed as the Mazda 6. Our rear bank does not make a loop and a turn. More like a 90 degree turn coming off the block, then a sligh turn toward the front of the car and then a hard left to meet up with the Y-pipe. Still stupid routing, but I don't think it's nearly as bad as what the 6 is, or what we thought it may have been. I'm still wanting a new product to get more air out of the block, however.
I will be doing some minor exhaust work here in the next coming weeks on mine. Hope to possibly open it up a little more. But like I said, nothing major. Just hope to get a little more sound from it. Nothing like a Civic on steroids and a 5" neon laser tip.
That's about it from my 5,000 mile/4 month review.
More to follow in the future!
:klavergreg: <-- I love this guy!
