I know the 6-speed for the 3.0 is made by aisen-warner, which is a toyota owned company. The mazda 6 boards rant and rave about this tranny over the old 5-speed auto. But who makes the auto for the 4-cylinder in the fusion? Apparantly this same tranny is in the 06 mazda 6 4-cylinders as well. Near the back of the owners manual, it says mazda. Do they actually make it? I know that prior to the 2006 models, the mazda 6's used the a 4-speed for the 2.3, and a 5-speed for the 3.0, both made by jatco. And both are known for surging, and failing, mostly due to operating at high temperatures. A lot of them are failing at less thank 20k miles. They are apparanlty sluggish and were not designed with much cooling in mind. Most 6 owners are installing aftermarket tranny coolers which remedies this problem. My question is, does jatco make the new 5-speed for our 4-cylinders? If so, I'm installing a tranny cooler ASAP and keeping a close eye on the tranny.

I do believe it is actually Mazda, anyway the 4's already have a flat tube that runs up over the
engine to the cooling fan for cooling purposes. but adding an air intake for the trans is not a bad
idea and never will hurt

...........

Jatco Trans #'s start with JXXX, this is actually a Mazda FNR5
