Fatty, you and I have been down this road before. There are LOTS of companies that just "rebadge" their cars... Audi is no different! It is nothing more than a glorified Volkswagen. Chrysler is a glorified Dodge, Lexus a glorified Toyota and Acura a glorified Honda. Why is Lincoln so bad for being a glorified Ford?

Badge engineering has never worked for Lincoln. Simply stating that this slow evolution is a waste of resources....
As for the others, I LOL thinking that the same amount of quality upgrades goes into, say, an MKZ as an ES gets over a Camry or an A4 over a VW. Just isn't the case. Every single automotive publication seems to agree as well. It also doesn't help that the other rebadges you refer to blow the rebadged Fords out of the water while the Ford badged products are wholly competitive at their price point.

I don't disagree that I'd like to see them start putting some new life into the Lincoln brand, I'm a fan of the company and would LOVE to see some new and exciting ideas. But when the parent company is just starting to get back on it's feet you can't expect the world right away. I'm sure you're well aware of the obscene R&D costs associated with something like that, so in the mean time they'll keep themselves afloat by rebadging and giving people like me something more than "just a Fusion".

Fair enough, but let's not act like this is a new problem. Ford got extremely lazy with their premium brand when they were selling 10k Navigators a month. Their problems aren't really a lack of potential resources, rather neglect and mismanagement. I'm still glad they kept Lincoln instead of Mercury, though.
