So its official... our 09 Escape is written off.

What opinions do you guys have on these 2 vehicles? whichever we choose, it'll likely be fully loaded. Either the Edge Sport or Escape Titanium. I really hated the Escape we had and the redesign looks really good. The eco boost engine looks interesting. However the Edge is a beast and looks like it would be awesome for road trips. Mom wants the Escape... Dad wants the Edge lol.

Thoughts?

While nice, the Edge is getting rather long in the tooth. If it were up to me, I'd choose the new Escape. Any reason you're only thinking about Fords? So many great crossovers out there, a shame to limit yourself to one brand.

its all about space. if you need a lot get the edge if you can use the space in the escape get that. my only draw back would be this is the first year of the escape. Then again my ex's edge (09) was in the shop constantly for the trans clunking on the downshift.

[/quote]We'll be ordering the basic SEL Escape with the 2.0 eco engine. That comes with a whole lotta stuff that used to be in an 'upgrade' package (leather, dual climate, etc). Everything I've read says the Escape will blow the segment competition away. As mentioned in the other thread, at first glance I think the interior is nicer than my Taurus... and certainly nicer than a comparably featured/priced Hyundai, Toyota, Mazda, Kia.

Not saying that it's not worthy of consideration, just wondering why you'd limit yourself due to brand loyalty.

I like the new Escape, but I don't really care for the appearance of it. Not that I buy cars based off of aesthetics, though. It's certainly going to be a huge step up on every level to the current POS they call an Escape.

Fatabbot, you certainly didn't pick that Soul based on loyalty or looks. It was price
I've driven both the 2013 Edge Sport and Escape 2.0L
For me, the Edge Sport wins hands down. The new 3.7 V6 offers pep, and the thing looks real good with the wheels it comes with. More room, most comfortable ride. Also, you pay for it being the most costly. Has the MYTOUCH, the vista roof. Which btw, on the Edge is huge.

While an Edge Sport may be slightly quicker than the 2.0 EB Escape, you need to remember the $10K premium between the two. I haven't driven neither. I drove an '11 3.5 Edge SE. The cowl was too high, and seating position too low for me. It seemed like I was driving a sub. Maybe I could have gotten used to it?

I had to previous Mariners. They were both good, but got a little tight while taking a family of 4 on trips. Cargo space was excellent, but passenger space gets tight with all the kid's stuff.

Thank God for electric seats! If you would have raised it you would have been able to see over the dash board I think. :p
The 2013 Edge Sport has the shared motor with the Mustang 3.7L V6. Much quicker than any current Escape w/ Eccoboost. The Sport Wheels on the Edge are sweet. jmo
