It was a mid 2012 year change, you should get the connector from the donor car and swap it with the one on your car, or buy a new pigtail. The VVT is not swappable with the older style one, but will function the same, it is mechanically different and mounts different.

I own a 2010 Ford fusion with last 8 of VIN: AR175314.
I purchased a motor through autowrecking.com that came from a 2012 Ford fusion. After installing the motor and upon connecting all the wiring we learned that the variable valve timing connection is not compatible with my existing wiring harness.
Is there any way to rectify this without swapping for another motor?
