I am actually considering not getting a 2011 GTI and waiting for this to come out to test drive it. I'm wondering what the cost and transmission options are going to be.

+1 on the :nope:
:p
if you have a smartphone, wireless internet in a car would be pretty useless IMO...

but it would be sick if you could tether your system to your phone
So you are excited about wireless internet but no flappy paddles eh? Does this picture excite you at all?

No not at all, i do want paddle shifters, that would make it better :)
It was directed @ Kenneh. I didn't want to strait out call him gay in fear of being accused of cyber bullying. :)
But with that statement you kinda did

2011 Outbacks come with that option, too. To me it's kind of silly. :dunno:

I'm not a really tech driven person, so maybe I'm missing the utility of car based wireless internet. Just seems like another monthly bill for the service. I already have a good phone with wifi hotzonespot capabilities, what's the advantage of having yet another source?

There's no additional subscription or fee required. If you have mobile broadband service for your laptop with the associated USB wireless card and subscription, you can plug your card into the USB port on your Ford and SYNC will use it to create a secure WiFi zone in the vehicle. Your passengers can then use their laptops for web browsing, Facebook, etc. My kids sure think it's a good idea!

Here's a Ford PR on this: http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=31640"]Ford SYNC Goes WiFi[/url]
That kinda irks me, so I would have to buy a special usb wireless card to make it work :( I was hoping for a small subscription fee.
