I'm not a really tech driven person, so maybe I'm missing the utility of car based wireless internet. Just seems like another monthly bill for the service. I already have a good phone with wifi hotzonespot capabilities, what's the advantage of having yet another source?
There's no additional subscription or fee required. If you have mobile broadband service for your laptop with the associated USB wireless card and subscription, you can plug your card into the USB port on your Ford and SYNC will use it to create a secure WiFi zone in the vehicle. Your passengers can then use their laptops for web browsing, Facebook, etc. My kids sure think it's a good idea!
