I have yet to see anything about them. I would suggest contacting a reputable dealership or a fleet dealership and ask them. I believe that the Canadian Fusion has DRL's.

The only feedback gained of this forum so far has been negative.

I would definitely be interested in having all the lights on rather then just DRL's though.

I recently bought a 2007 Mariner and asked the dealer to turn on the DRLs. They were able to go in through the NGS tester and simply "turn them on", no cost, no parts. I don't know if the Fusion is similar, but I'd start by asking the dealer. On my 2002 Focus this was not possible though, I had to buy an aftermarket "autolamp" kit.

Why would you not want DRLs? It is so much easier for people to see you coming.

If anyone finds out that they just need to be "turned on" please let us know. I would like to have them also.

Just put a piece of black weather-proof or "light" tape over the dashboard sensor and turn the auto-lamp switch ON and you're good-to-go.

LOL the other good thing about having them on is a lot of insurance companies will give you a discount for them. Or at least the one i work for does.

All the canadian fusions have them, daytime running lights have been the law on all new cars in Canada since 1990. 3 rd brake lights since 1986. A co-worker had to install them on his 40 th anniversary mustang gt when he moved back to Canada from Tyler, Texas where he bought the car new, otherwise it wouldn't pass the safety inspection.

3rd brake light was 86 in the US as well. Only reason i know that is because of my mustangs. 85 hatch backs with spoiler has not tail light 86 mustangs all hatchbacks had spoiler with 3rd brake light in it. More of the info no one cares about :lol:

Yeah, that's how I know about the daytime running lights. My 1990 5.0 LX has them, I bought the car new and remember asking about them. I also remember the recall that came about them because they got really dim and looked like crap. I thought the '87-'89 mustangs looked cool at dusk with just the park lights on. But hey, that was the early nineties.

Maybe I'm wrong or something.....but, my Fusion came with it. If you turn the headlamp switch ll the way to the left they should operate. I'm not for sure why yours does not have or if was just on select models.

that should be for automatic light no daytime running lites. I from what i remember is the only one that got daytime running lites are the canadian cars and maybe cars that were used as fleet or rental cars. Could be wrong about the fleet and rentals.

If you can move your switch to the left, that's the Auto Lamp position. My moms mountaineer has it. It turns the lights on when it senses that it's dark(ish) outside. It doesn't have DRL though (at least not that I'm aware of). Our windstar has DRL, which turns the lights parking? lights on when you put the van in drive.

Autolamps = good idea
DRL = useless (IMO, since I turn the parking/fog lights on out of habbit anyways)

some states give you a discount on auto insruance if you have the daytime running lights. But to me it just means that you are going to need to replace bulbs just that much more often because they are on all the time. Added cost that i do not need.
