I was poking around under the hood with the car idling today trying to pinpoint the source of the tapping the car has had since new, and decided to crack open the oil fill cap. There is a lot more air coming out of there than I'm used to. I would say about half the volume/pressure of what you feel at the tailpipes at idle. Anyone ever try this?

I know this is an old one but I had the same question until my wife got a 2.3 ford escape. It does the same thing so it is apparently normal in the 2.3 since both cars in my garage have the same amount of crank case pressure.

Yeah, it's normal, and I found out the hard way, I work at a Ford dealership and the customer wanted some oil additive we sell, so I change the oil and fill it, then put the cap on to check the oil. Then I remembered I forgot to put the additive in, so while it was running I tried pouring it in, and ended up wearing it lol.
