My black SE V6 is just turning over 10,000 miles, so I thought I'd give an update:

Problems: Only one--a slight, almost unnoticeable oil leak from the oil pan. Dealer is fixing it Friday and giving me a free oil change in the process.

Likes: Almost everything! Still rattle and squeak free, and handles as good as the day I bought it. Lots of fun to drive.

Dislikes: Really wish I could have gotten a manual with the V6, also dislike that I couldn't get fog lights in November without the SEL package, but now you can get them on the SE. Wish I had forked out the extra cash for the sunroof.

Modifications: Tinted windows, 3.5 inch chrome exhaust tips, just got the molded splash guards but don't have them installed yet.

Average MPG: 26 mpg--way better than my Sport Trac prior to this car.

Would I buy one again? Absolutely!

Great to hear it!

I am going to hit 6,000 miles on my next trip anyplace, so looks like I am only another 4 grand away form doing a review like this myself.

My Fusion just turned 4,000 miles. Still stock, with exceptions of the tint and the splashguards I hope to get soon. The car still suprise me when I step on the gas, even though it is a V6. :eek: :D

RandyR,

Sounds good, glad to hear the car is doing well!  :D  I've only got 1,800 miles on mine but so far it's great. As for all these folks driving trucks - they weigh A LOT so they use way more gas, are slower and don't handle nearly as well as a car and COST more. I just don't get it.

Sorry to high jack you thread, but here is my 12,000 mile/2,400 mile road trip review.

Fantastic and not one trouble to date.

Four adults and luggage comfortably traveled from Pittsburgh PA to Tampa FL and back in complete comfort. Fully loaded at 75-80 MPH with AC on = a trip average of 28-29 MPG. I noticed a 2 MPG loss going through the hills of West Virginia, but the 4cyl had no troubles though.

My friend that I shared driving stated after driving for four hours that the Milan was more comfortable then his dad's 98 accord sedan that he used to drive to NC last year.

Definitely still a kick ass car!

I've got 11k now.

After numerous quality issues, I've been problem free for the last 8k. Only mods are H&R and resonator removal.

As of today- 31.9 MPG with mixed driving. I don't use the AC and run high air pressure....I've only ever used the AC once when it was really hot and the damn farmers spread shit all over and had to put it on max so it wouldn't suck in any outside air. I too wish I would have sprung for the sunroof.

As of now, I plan on driving this car to the ground as a daily driver getting at least 150k out of her. I think my addiction of buying a car every year is over.

OK OK...up here in Canada we use Kilometers.  I just rolled  10 000km 3 days ago( I guess about 6000 miles) and loved every one of them.  On the weekend, when hauling the wife and kids around, we use the Caravan.  When I hop into the Fusion, crank up the Metallica (only country in the van) and row through the gears, I am at peace.  I got the base SE, I4 M5.  Only option I got was $415 for the alloys.  I chose the Fusion because it reminded me a bit of my old Contour Sport (only much much better).  No squeaks,creaks or rattles.  Still looks like the day it was delivered (in spite of a Canadian winter). In fact, at the last oil change at the dealer, the mechanic tracked me down and gave me back the keys and said "that is one clean car".  (see the FIRST picture in the "passenger airbag in a rollover" forum.)
My only complaint is the reception with my Sirius Satellite "One".  Not perfectly clear.  I thought maybe it was because of the cheaper unit I got, but it works perfectly in the 2005 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors I drive every day at work.  I'm going to look into getting it hardwired to the radio.  Has anyone else done that?

Showtime,

Why don't you run the AC once every 2 months just to keep it "loose". I think there's mineral oil in the system that needs to lube various seals and such so runnin it every now and then is probably a good idea.

Now as for that resonator removal - how would you describe the sound? Any interior resonance at hwy speed?

It's quite a bit louder than stock as for the noise. You only really hear it when you're on the gas, when you let off or coast it's quiet.

Showtime, I'm still posturing on removing the resonator, but how is the highway speed sound like Cos was asking. The last thing I want to do is create more drone at 70-80 mph, do you like the sound it makes or is it too raspy. I've sold the Taurus so long trips are now in the Fusion and I don't want to be buzzed to sleep driving.

I honestly don't hear the added noise from the resonator removal unless I am ON the gas. Cruising down the expressway, your just as quiet and getting slightly better fuel mileage.

WHOOOO. Just hit 10,000 miles. Infact I've got 10,004.00 exactly as it sits in the garage.

Problems = NONE.

Likes = Everything.

Dislikes = Black car, hard to maintain. My own stupidity though. Still love the color black being on my car though.

Wishes = Wish I got manual. Wish I had chosen a different color.

You can't haul a load of wood in the trunk very easily though!

Nonsense! Maybe not as much as a truck could fit but I've filled mine with wood for these cold idaho winters and did just fine.

RymanH24,

I'm at 9,500 miles and like you, have had no problems. I do have the stick (it's great) and also have black which looks great, I'm glad I have it. :D
