2009 Ford Fusion with 170,000 miles and in the last month I have had two episodes when I go to brake the pedal pretty much goes to the floor. Once the car is stopped I can get normal braking power by pumping the brakes a few times and then its all good for a while. Pads and rotors were changed in the beginning of the summer, no leaks, fluid is full and clean, no brake or abs lights. I am at am not sure what to look into to fix the problem. Any help would be great. Thanks!
Might have damaged internal seals in the master cylinder while bleeding the brakes after pad replacement. If the pedal is pushed past it's normal range of travel while bleeding the seals will scrape areas of the bore that have never been touched, which may be rougher due to corrosion.
I also thought maybe the master cylinder would be leaking internally past the seal. I would think that you would have a low pedal feeling all the time with a bad master cylinder.
