TSB Question
« on: July 07, 2010, 11:21:08 PM »
Ok so this might sound stupid for some, but are TSB's fixed by the dealership for free or is there a fee for the fix?  I am thinking my car qualifies for a few of them but I am WAY too cheap to pay to get some minor crap fixed. (Windows scratch a bit when going up, and check to see if the computer reprogram was done before I bought it)

Most dealers will do them for free during the warranty period only.

TSB's are not recalls. They just guide the dealer of possible problem fixes. This prevent every dealer from having to start from square 1 when a common problem exists.

If you want to know what may have been done to your vehicle prior to your ownership - if it was serviced at a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury Dealer for any service, recalls or issues - you can go to your local Dealer and ask to have an OASIS Report generated for your VIN #.  That will tell you some things about the vehicle.

anytime I have requested the OASIS from a Ford Dealer, they never charged me for it...  Just go to the Service Desk and tell the service writer you had just purchased the car and want to have an OASIS run on it to see if there are any prior maintenance records and/or recalls, waranty work, etc done to it.  He should be able to run it on the spot by using your VIN.

Sometimes it will list the original selling dealer, the date it was delivered when new, etc - as well as any prior Ford Service work (again, this will ONLY show if the vehicle was serviced at any Ford, Lincoln or Mercury Dealer - it will not show any secondary shop work outside of a Dealer).
