Monochrome interior question
« on: June 21, 2010, 01:12:32 PM »
I noticed on all the other monochrome cars they have leather console lids with the white stitching like the seats and wheel. Well I didnt notice this till after I bought mine which only has the regular console lid that is made out of the same material as the dash. Kind of a small thing but do you think I could get the correct lid if I asked the right person at ford?

could it be because you have the cloth interior?  it may only come with the leather interior.

All the cars I see had the same interior as mine except for the console lid. I seen the same exact car as mine same model and color and it had the leather stitched lid.

Hmmm the only thing I can think of its the leather wrapped steering wheel option but it looks like you have that too?  good luck.  Mine is just like that too but I have an 06.  no stitching on lid.

was the car new?

may it had a problem with the original lid and the dealer ordered the wrong year model lid, and instead of returning it, simply installed it?

for what its worth, my SEL with cloth interior has a leather top.  Personally I think it looks out of place.

I think yours looks fine.
Cheers!

This is funny. I have a 2010 SE without monochrome. I have the leather console but not the steering wheel or the shift knob.

Didnt get my console lid I kinda of gave up on it. Its not a big enough deal for me to pay out of pocket for it.

You could go the evil path and "test drive" a monochrome car with the leather lid and go swap em quick

I don't think yours is a misbuild.  Here's a shot I took of the cloth-seat monochrome interior when they first came out.  Looks just like yours.  I suspect the stitched leather console lid only comes with the leather seat option.  Are you SURE you have seen it with cloth seats?  The other possibility is that Ford made this a Job #3 change for the 2010's, and later builds have it.

Thanks, Yes I sat in a car that was identical to mine but it was a manual and it had the stitched lid. I also seen others on the lot that had it. Im thinking I got one of the earlier monochrome cars like you said that didnt have it yet possibly.
