20louie06 Mod Thread
« on: June 11, 2010, 12:07:53 AM »
Quick story before I start with the mods.
I purchased the Fusion in February of 07 brand new. The grille really pulled me to it. It was between this or a Chevy Colorado. I still wonder what the Colorado would look like had I opted for that. My dad is a hardcore Ford fan so he kinda pulled me to the Fusion. Originally I was going to get a Mustang but my parents said they would pay the insurance for 6 months if I didn't get a sports car. Being 19 at the time, I agreed. I already had an old Mustang anyways.

I bought the car and didn't jump right in like most of you guys. The only thing I did was get some exhaust tips, a chrome plate frame, and a spoiler. Over a year would pass before I would do anything else. I stumbled across this site and was amazed at the cars I saw. Before I knew it my modding roller coaster ride had begun. And let me tell you guys it's been a hell of a ride. Ups and downs but it's all been worth it.

Okay on to the pics.

Completely stock

Chrome exhaust tips and spoiler

Window tint and smoked sidemarkers

First major mod
H&R springs

This is what I wanted the rear end to look like. I think it came out better than I had envisioned.

Next major mod was the wheels. Nascar Sonoma's 18x7.5 with a +45 offset.
Around the same time I also swapped my Fusion H&R's for a set of Mazdaspeed 6 H&R's. The height was about the same. It definetly evened it out more that the first set. The ride was a lot nicer too. I did some research and found that the Mazdaspeed weighs about 500lb more than the V6 Fusion. So that probably helped smooth the ride.

Around that time there was starting to be more Fusions on the road. I wasn't worried about blending in from the rear or side view but my front end was pretty stock. I decided to make something no one else had but what? I have a big poster of "Eleanor" on my wall, one morning it was like a light bulb had turned on. That's what I was going to make my front end look like.

My first draft

First attempt was ok but didn't look right after some time. I couldn't live with it anymore so I went ahead and ordered some Mustang fog lamps.

Night shot with custom sidemarkers and Hid's installed.

This one is the most meaningful mod I've done to this car. In November of 07 my best friend was killed in a car accident. I took this very hard. For months I didn't care about anything. He used come over and help me work on my Mustang and I would go and help him work on his MR2 when we were in high school. We had a lot of good times going to the junk yard just to see what we could find. I went to visit his grave about 6 months after his death and was finally in peace with his death. I wanted the Fusion to be a memorial for him and one day it clicked on where his name should be. Right where I could see it everyday. Here's to Marlon

Complete list of mods. The ones that are crossed out are no longer on or are going to be remove.
I'm also proud to say that the only thing I didn't do myself was the window tint.
Spoiler
Tint Rear 15%/Front 35%
Exhaust tips
Pinstripe
Smoked sidemarkers
Mkz sharkfin antenna
Opened taillight housing and smoked the red part only
Painted rear lower fascia black with custom "Fusion" decal
Underdash Led's
Led's under rear lower fascia (turnsignal/brake lights)
Ford Flex shiftknob
Shift boot
Custom switch on radio bezel using the "Fusion" plate
Carbon fiber di-noc
Custom lower grille (twice)
Foglamps tinted yellow
Chrome fog bezels
HD lip
Nascar Sonoma wheels
Sony speakers
Front inner fender turn signals
Emblems overlays
Calipers painted black
Cold air intake
Throttle body spacer
Magnaflow muffler
"Fusion" sill plates
Remote start
Fusion H&R springs
Mazdaspeed6 H&R springs
Mazda 6 Hatchback Vogtland springs
Custom Led sidemarkers
"Fusion" letter moved to the passenger/driver door
Roof painted satin black
Gauges changed to super white
Super white led turn signals

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things. I'll add them if I remember
That's it for now. I got a few more things planned though

You have a different theme flowing with your car and it couldn't have came out any better.  Fantastic job with it so far, and even more props for being so hands on.  Also, the tribute is a great idea and shows how great of a friend you are as well.  I look forward to your next mods.  Happy modding!  :agbullet:

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm glad you guys like the work as much as I do. I don't ever plan on selling this car and it's far from done. I know my buddy is helping me every step of the way.

Car looks awesome man, fun to see the progression of your car.  I love your tribute looks very, very, very good.  It reminds me of what they did on an episode of Overhaulin' for a Navy Seal who lost a buddy in a battle.  Great car, and great tribute man.  I am sure you friend can see what you have done to commemorate him.

Newest mod. I liked it at first but I think it's overkill. I'm going back to my first set up and put them just over the exhaust tips.
Check them out though. The pics are with my hazards flashing. Maybe if the led's were uniformed it would look better. I'm changing it though.

Got some more night shots of my front end.
Fogs and lows. I need Hid's for the fogs now.

Low beam only

Louie, i've been lucky enough to watch you mod your car from its beginnings, and what an amazing job you've done.  Your creativity and vision is very exciting to see.  I love the tribute as well, sorry to hear about your homie, but you know he's riding shotgun with you every time you fire up the engine.

Keep it up meng!
