HOW TO: Check for wheel clearence for the Brembo brake kit
« on: January 06, 2009, 05:41:50 PM »
I've had a few questions about how to properly check if the Brembo brake kit will work with certain wheels as far as clearance. The template provided by Brembo to check clearance is not very clear, so I figured I'd take a few photos to show you all how to check.

The template you will need can be found here:

http://www.steedafusion.com/installs/files/brembo_fusion-mazda_brake_template.pdf

First you will need to cut out the outlined template like this:

Next you will need to line the thinner part of the template up with the dead center of the wheel. Also, make sure the template is laying flat against the inside of the wheel.

Next move the the template over the back of the spoke like shown. If the template hits any part of the back of your spoke or the inside of the wheel the brake kit will not fit.

This photo is an example of a wheel that would support the Brembo kit

This is a photo of a wheel that WILL NOT support the Brembo kit. Notice how the template does not lay flat in the center of the wheel and the template is hitting the back side of the spoke.

If the Brembo kit didn't cost three times as much as the most expensive mod I've done to my car, I'd consider it

You could try to convince the place you're buying from to check it for you. Other than that I think you're SOL
