Engine block heater

This time of year I always bring this up. While the remote start goes in on Tuesday I was looking into an engine block heater for the cold nights I'm on call w/ EMS. Does anyone here use one or have any experience with this?

Re: Engine block heater

From my experience in Alaska many moons ago the tank-type heater works much better than the freeze plug type, assuming they're still available and will fit your Milan.

I used to be wishy-washy, but now I'm not sure.

Re: Engine block heater

it is offered as an option in the fleet manual for the milan so i would assume you can go to ford and get one from the parts counter  option (41h)

will need to add an auto eject so you dont drag the cord down the road lol

Re: Engine block heater

I have a block heater on my Milan. It works outstanding. My car sits outside 24/7 and it can get real cold here. I use it pretty much any time the temps get into the teens or lower at night. Sure is nice getting in and driving away with warm air blowing within a couple minutes. And a lot eaiser on your car engine also. 4th winter with mine and 94,000 on car no problems.

Spending time learning the science of the mechanisms of friction, lubrication, and wear of interacting surfaces that are in relative motion
