Maybe a 8.8 but eventually I wanna put some real power down so I want the strength

A 8.8 31 spline can handle quite a bit of power... just saying. Throw some 35 spline axle shafts in there... still cheaper than a 9" and you won't have to custom fab anything.

joking!!!

Just saw the ford equivalent on "fast and loud" the other week. Except it was a coupe. Evidently they are also a fox body unibody so most mustang parts will bolt on including the 5 lug conversion kits. If your making power that is a necessary upgrade along with a 31 spline 8.8 (3:73) and a Detroit air locker.

i dont know everything yet. whats the difference between the gt40 and gt40p ive only heard of gt40 heads

#17 ·
97 was a split year for the gt40/gt40p heads in the explorer. whether or not gt40p heads are better than gt40, everyone will tell you something different. gt40p are supposed to flow a little better, and give a slightly higher compression ratio, but they dont work with with all headers due to the spark plug placement, and you need to change the valve springs for them to work (but if your doing a cam anyway this doesnt matter). gt40 heads have a bigger exhaust valve.

if it was me, i would just look for a cobra motor to start with. already has gt40 heads as a base. then upgrade to aluminum heads. unless you get a killer deal on gt40/gt40p heads, your money is better spent on aluminum heads after you factor in the cost of rebuilding them and the gains you get. but thats just my take on it.

congrats on the new project!

Its a really clean install I'm very pleased with it. You can't see the leds at all.

Not yet. Still trying to get the funds up to purchase it all. I wanna do the complete driveline swap at once so I wanna get everything I need before I tackle it.

i added a radio and speakers since the car came with stock was a a\m radio with a single speaker in the dash i put 2 6x9s and 2 5 1/2s in the rear deck lid

im waiting on carpet for the rear deck lid that i made becausei dont want to cut any interior parts.
tomorrow i got a new radiatorim going to put in because this one looks like its the orginal rad.

so well i was replaceingthe radiator last night justthe ittle movement of looseningthe trans coolers they started leaking. so now i got the car on jackstands and im running new trans line. this is goingto be fun. :/ and after work today im going to finish the radio install and finish the trans lne and bleed the cooling system. them i also picked up a set of gauges i got volts coolant temp and oil pressure. now i just gotta find a coolant port i can tap into and a oil pressure port i can tap in as well.

ill have pics up today after i get off work. finished the rad, Radio, and trans lines last night. now i gotta se up the gauges. but first i gotta locate the oil pressure switch and coolant temp sensor. then im going to run a electric fan to a switch.

lots of work to the zephyr. within the next week or 2 ill be doing a trans crossmember as well to prepair for the swap.

oh and the fuzzy carpet is glued and stapled to the new rear deck.
