so i found this 1982 mercury zephyr in town locally to me and me and my dad are picking it up tomorrow for purchase.
its got all kinds of new parts about $600 worth
2.3l auto with 41,000 ORGINAL miles
The Plane:
5.0L
5 speed
9'' rear end idk gears
satin black body with gloss black top
black chrome all the chrome
5 lug conversion
nice wheels
tint
and im going to try and talk my dad into putting twin turbos in it next winter.
now i got a exhaust leak right behind the converter so i gotta drill out the rusted bole and replace it all. oh goodie. andthen its starting to become very hard to start in the cold weather. so im thinking i need to carb rebilut. i bet it has never been done before since the car is about to hit 42k.
lol to bad i cant find a donor car. im goingto get ALL the parts i need forthe swap so i can do it as fast as possible. im giving myself 3 days for the swap. im just goingto build a whole new front subframe and both it up so it wall be easier
3 days for a swap eh. totally do able. while you have that motor out, its the perfect time to freshen it up with new gasket and seals. especially the oil pan gasket. theres no bigger kick in the balls then having to replace an oil pan gasket and/or both crank seals after just putting the motor in the car. ask me how i know, lol.
I've only found about 3 in my price range right now and all 3 had well over 150k on the motor. And I don't want to have to rebuild the whole motor at first. I wanna run it stock for a summer then rebuild it with heads cam intake headers the whole 9 yards.
But for a update I'm fixingthe exhaust leak today by just cutting the rusted flange away and clamping a pipe in its place. When I get my fat ass under there ill snap a pic. Gotta love michigan rust. And then I got a trans leak from my new trans line I did last week so I gotta fix that. And yeaturday I sold my alpine v12 amp for $40 and I bought it 3 years ago for $20. An the body was all beat up. But still worked great. So with that money I picked up plugs cap rotor and wires. So I'm going to tackle that today and maybe hook up the new gauges.

did plugs, wires, cap and rotor and damn this this got way more power. holy shit. hopefully after i take my finals tomorrow im going to be installing the new starter.
yea i saw both them ads. but their out of my price range. i can find cars on there but theyt want a ton of money for a rusted out shell and a motor with 100k plus. im talking to a guy with a 94 5.0 out of a f150. but it has 130k on it.
but sadly the zephyr over heated around 260. i just installed the temp gauge 2 days ago. and looking around the engine bay and boy oh boy did the last guy cut a lot of wires. have to rewire a lot of shit.
your better off with a donor car when your doing a swap like this. a majority of fox body parts will bolt right up into the fairmont/zephyr. whats your budget for a donor?
Its still the same right now haven't really done much to it lately. Still need a warm day so I can drop the trand crossmember and weld up the ford racing one. And I also have to mount the oil pressure gauge coolant temp and volts in the dash or in the pods under the radio
