So I traded cars with my dad and got the short end of the stick. He handed me the keys to his '07 XC70 AWD (2.5T I5) while I gave him the keys to my '10 Fusion Sport :x and his XC70 is starting to get a little dull...

It's good fun for what it is but it's too heavy, the suspension is too soft, the engine doesn't have enough go power (208hp/240tq), the transmission isn't quick enough, yada yada...but it's under CPO warranty so I can't do too much. I just want a little pizazz to set it apart from the 4 billion other '02-'07 XC70's out there.

Currently it has 70/20 tint in the front/back. That's it. I think I'm gonna debadge it since it says "Cross Country" on the bottom center of the tailgate anyway and they all come with AWD standard. Not to mention there's not "2.5 T" badge and it'll look cleaner debadged.

But what else...idk any tidbits or adjustables or unlockable easter eggs in these things. His old '99 V70 GLT with the fabulous 2.4T I5 and shitty as hell GM 4-speed transmission, I knew a whole bunch but idk about the '07. I do have to say if you're going to buy a Volvo, the 2.4T is SOOOOOO MUCH MORE FUN than the sluggish, heavier, slower-revving 2.5T even though the 2.5T has about 41 more ft-lbs.

If you run an '02-'07 V70/XC/R, post up with something. I'm bored outta my mind with this thing!

Guys, guys, guys, you're reading into this all wrong. We swapped because the Volvo has much more useable space and I don't want my Sport to get bashed up while I'm at school. The Volvo can easily take 4x the amount than my Sport can and it makes back and forth from school so easy. We own both cars. I'm not expecting it to be more fun AT ALL because it's not (even though the engine is kind of fun) but it needs LED lighting throughout, better sway control, a bit more power, yada yada...

just like everything else springs sway bars and turning up the boost will work wonders!!! Sorry you had to step into a volvo
[/quote]
You think I can rip up a V70R from the same year if I can ever find a V70R from the same year? lol But sway bars would be awesome. The cornering on this thing is like trying to run Laguna Seca in a semi in under 1:45. It's not a bad car, Fords and Volvos are my favies! :D but it needs some spice...like the spice my Sport came stock with!

Can you use V50 springs or other suspension components in it? Lifted wagons are stupid. I know, my last car was an Outback.

Hahaha I'm so sorry! I'm not the biggest fan of Subarus. Lifted wagons are stupid but it makes the drive from LA to SF sooooooooo much nicer :p I don't think V50 components will fit since I can fit a V50 in the XC lmao

why the trade? but its funny the runner up to my 2012 fusion was a 2012 S60. and i am still looking for a V70R to add to my garage. anyway there are a few goodies to add some spice to it. swedespeed.com is a good resource site for news and info.

Definitely gonna check it out.

I just debadged it and bought some LED license plate/reverse lights today! (cause some of them I may have broken haha)

I wish I didn't go to school in LA :'( I miss Kiran (my Sport)

How much useable space do you need? It's a fusion, not a civic. Are you planning on sleeping in it or something?

The swap just makes no sense at all to me... and if it was just for school, would you not be trading back in a few months anyways since you'll be home for summer? In which case, your father may not even want a lowered car or an upgraded handling package on it.

Whoops, I didn't mean the V50. What's the regular midsize wagon?

I need a lot lol I filled my mother's Expedition from front to back once and then she got t-boned in LA so it doesn't come down anymore. I literally fill the XC form front to back - like only room for me to drive it. But once we find a permanent house that doesn't kick us out every summer (unlike this stupid on-campus housing does) then I won't be hauling a bunch of shit back and forth. But I'm still not bringing my Sport down here. Have you ever driven in LA? It's not somewhere that you want to drive a car you like.

I would be trading cars with him again in May except I'll most likely be down here for summer since CA has a shitty budget and the only place it shows is the schooling system -_- so I have 8 units (calc and ME286) for this semester. Nothing for the minor, just a couple surface classes for the major.

Back on topic, he's having quite a hoot driving my car the once or twice a week he does and considering the Expedition he steals from my mom the other days of the week handles 10-fold better than this Volvo, I don't think he'll mind. I'm not doing anything as drastic as springs, just a sway bar or two. This isn't where my mod money is going it just needs some pizazz...and one less cushion on the couch lol

The V70. I figure if I could find springs off a V70 T5, it may work but I haven't driven one of them so I'm not really sure if their springs are any stiffer or just cut shorter. Their sway bars should be stiffer since they're meant for the street and not traversing the Swedish mountains during a blizzard hahaha

this company sells tunes and sway bars for the
xc-70

and sport springs

Love it! Muchos gracias! Definitely want those sway bars!! I seriously want the tune...+41hp and +71tq  and the downpipe+CBE for +28hp and +35tq    that would make the car perfect! Total 277hp and (omg...) 342tq! I can't even begin to describe how much that makes me drool. (even without the downpipe)

My first car was a 2000 Volvo S40. 1.9 liter turbo engine making 160 HP mated to a 4 speed auto. Thing was slow, BUT it was turbo so all my friends were jealous of it. It was bright red with single stage paint (no clear coat.) Nothing else shines like single stage...for about a week until it oxidizes and needs buffed again. Put 17x7 Konig Twilite wheels on and a Eurosport Tuning SRI, and that was the extent of my mods.

Had ENDLESS problems with it. It was nuts. Spent quite a lot of time being worked on.

I put 6,000 miles on it in the 2 years I owned it. Ended up selling it for $250 less than I paid for it though so it all worked out...

No acronym can describe the amount of laughter that just brought me. Those 1.9T's were slow as shit. I'm also pretty sure the 4-sp you had was built by GM because the 4-sp that was in the '99 V70 GLT (2.4L 5cyl turbo - 190hp/199tq in a 3,600lb car so I know your pain) was built by GM and suuuuuuuuuuucked. Volvo's will run forever...if you keep throwing money at them. The '99 was a money pit, the '07, so far, isn't but then again, I still have CPO warranty on it :p Once that's done then we'll see how big of a money pit it REALLY is. Just for comparison, bought the '99 for about $22K off a 3-year lease. When I sold it last summer for $3,900, we put in roughly $25,000 in repairs over 85,000 miles/9 years.

Minor update, I'm putting in a gauge cluster from an 05+ R series Volvo and creating a mesh grille. Then I think I'm done until I can afford a tune. Pics will come when the mods are done! Then back to the Sport :D

I like it! (needs a drop :p) Although, I always like Volvos except for the current XC70. XC's should be like mine, great freeway cruisers, nice commuter vehicles, sweet off roaders, and exceptional fowl weather drivers. The new ones are like...none of that. It's like driving a couch now with a 325hp T6. /rant lol

Basically I'm doing this (this is my thread on the Volvo forum): http://volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20570
And this (also my thread): http://volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20574

Technicalities...kinda like me being in college and not being able to afford the tune

Yes! New grill on the way! Time to dump the egg crate for something more...aluminum.

Thank you! It is off center by about 1/2" but it looks kinda neat in person. Like not noticeable enough to notice by looking but noticeable enough to look and be like "I see what you did there..."

So we had this huge storm that dropped like 50% of our seasonal rainfall last night/this morning and I was driving around and found mud haha I drove through it like 3 times and then took pics, I'll upload them in a bit cause I just got a call from someone special and I gotta leave. But in like an hour they should be up!
