Trading in my car Saturday

So we've decided to have my wife stay home with our daughter. Good news is that it means I get to get a new car, LOL.

I'm basically going to buy the cheapest possible new car that fits my minimal needs in order to cash out my equity in the Outback when used car prices and trade in values are peaking.

My needs/wants:

1. Preferably hold a baby seat while still allowing a front passenger (i.e. not having to move the seat all the way forward)
2. Manual transmission
3. Hatchback

So far, my choices appear to be a base Kia Soul (probably the most likely purchase due to rear seat space), Mazda2 (fun to drive, but small back seat), Chevy Aveo (yuck....), Yaris 5 door (blah) or maybe a Versa at the high end of what I want to spend. The problem with the Yaris and Versa is finding one with a MT....

Any other ideas? Don't say Fiesta as they are asking way too much for them right now.

Meh. Keep the outback. I could trade the gti for an 87 chevy lumina but id rather die.

I am very late to the game here....

No such thing as an 87 Lumina. 90-01 are you year of choices... 01 was fleet sales only... 90-94 are better IMO and they aren't that bad of a car, they last a good while (261,000 mi and counting for me) :dunno:

I hate the Soul/Cube/Element...that whole vibe is bleh to me. Good luck on the new vehicle.

I don't really care for the appearance of the vehicle, but it's hard to match the overall utility that the Soul/xB/Cube, etc. provide for the price. Some people love the looks of them, but they're probably prime candidates for eye transplants.

PHEW, I thought that you bought it for its appearance and I was trying to be nice. I do give them credit for their utility value though.

Ouch to the Milan

Well, that doesn't mean that cars have to be ugly for me to own them, just that it's not high on the priority list. I liked my Milan's appearance over the first gen Fusion. Since they were identical otherwise, I chose the Milan.

While very true that it is just a Lumina... BUT when a vehicle has been in your family for almost 20 years and has provided 261,000 miles through thick and thin/all types of weather/cranked everyday when others wouldn't.... you actually start to care.

I know it was just a joke. :) At least you don't have an Aztek!
