Hey gang,

Regarding just what the title says.....give me your thoughts/opinions on the new design from Honda. Would you buy? Yes or No and why?

Regards,

Truckin :)

Yes. Good reputation, a lot of fun, and low price. Same reason i bought my car. Especially with high gas prices its nice to et 34 mpg while still being able to have some fun. Interested in one? Only down side is the typical honda crwd that gives honda a stigma that wont ever go away.

Yes Biggee I am interested in the 2012 civic Si model. You hit the nail on the head when you said better gas mileage yet it would still be fun to drive. What I am MOST interested in though is the ability for me to once again be able to shift the gears myself and not rely on the "Computer" to do the thinking for me.....make sense? Just wanted some people's thoughts and opinions on the matter. I probably won't be able to get one for another year but I can wait :p

What kind of warranty did you get with your VW Biggee? Also, how is the handling/suspension setup? The civic produces about the same HP as your vw (stock vs stock of course) but is way behind on the torque at only around 180 VS. 207. I just priced one with the sunroof option only and it was approx $26,765 on the internet which is about the same as the civic with the options that I would have done to it. These include upgrade the suspension/brakes.....

Truckin :)

I must say though I do like the looks of the VW and it is stated that it will get the same MPG as the civic......:)

Standard warranty but i found out my trans is covered by a ten yr 100k mile warranty due to a recall campaign. I would take the gti over the si anyday. Handeling is great. The car is engineered t be one of the most fun cars on the road. Read the tests between the two.

Will do Biggee! Already read the review of the MazdaSpeed3 vs. GTI....might try to go to dealership in Cary, NC this upcoming weekend and see if they have one that I like in stock. Have a VW now so I am familiar with them just not sure if I want to purchase another one or not...... :dunno:

Truckin :)

I'd definitely take the VW over the Honda, but only with full warranty coverage

I just don't like how loud Honda makes their cars. Even the Accord, Pilot, etc. have excessive road noise. I could put up with it in the Accord Coupe V6/MT, but that's about it. Maybe the Fit, too, since they're cheap so you can't expect too much...

My nickname for the Si is the Torqueless Wonder. I think it's rather silly when they try to race me on the street.

Nice to see the 2012 got some much needed torque though. It is a Honda, so it'll be reliable at least.

EDIT: I see you looked at the Speed3 as well. I really do love mine. Got it for about $23k. The suspension and brakes that it comes with are very good. And with a few bolt ons I'm at an easy 320 HP and 330 FT/LBs. Yes, there is torquesteer. But I'm able to control it rather easily.

I think street racing is rather silly and should be kept to the tracks, but that's just my :twocents:

As for if I'd buy one? I think they look nice. Especially in a nice blue colour with a good set of HIDs, but just like what biggie said about the "typical honda crwd" is what turned me off of a Civic. Its a nice car for sure, but not for me. I loves my Fusion!

Ya, that's why I don't race them.

About a month ago I had a Si follow me through the streets for about 5 miles. He kept revving next to me. Would pull up. Then back. Rev again. For 5 damn miles. I seem to get that alot with Si drivers around here. Several GTI guys too. But they seem to be a bit more mature.

Well went and test drove a Tornado Red 6spd manual GTI with VW Sunroof Package today. One word..... Impressed! Loved the way it rode and shifted. Steering response was precise and suspension was tuned in just perfect with near NO body roll. Wife and I are trying to purchase one and should know if we are able to do so by tomorrow morning. Cross your fingers and wish me luck!!

Sorry for taking so long.....I am the VERY VERY proud owner of a new 2011 Volkswagen GTI 2 door coupe. I will be posting some pictures of the car this upcoming weekend....I must say that I am just loving it so far! I mean I can't get out of the thing it drives SOOO smooth and to be able to finally change gears is just wonderful! :break:

I still would like to remain here with all of you guys just wouldn't be a fusion owner. :Hide: If thats cool.......

Truckin :)

I haven't owned my Milan for over a year and I'm still a moderator. You're good

Congrats on the new car. I'm contemplating getting one tomorrow...

Man I'm telling ya its the best of both worlds! Little bit sporty with good quality craftsmanship and it still gets decent gas mileage. That's what I was going for in the first place with the civic. The GTI gets the same MPG and like most of you said its interior is better quality (which is true) and engine puts out more HP/Torque :smokinamd:. I will try to get some pictures up ASAP! Going to see that new movie tonight "The Priest" so it will have to be tomorrow. Thanks again for all your thoughts and opinions on this matter it really helped point me in the right direction.

Regards,

Truckin :)

Glad I get to stay with you all!!! :mj:
