2011 Dodge Charger SRT/8

A few weeks ago, I was in Detroit for a Tigers game. As we entered into rush hour traffic, I saw what I first thought was a covered 2011 Charger. It had fairly nice looking wheels, like you would find on an R/T model. As we got closer, sure enough... definitily a new Charger.

Here's the twist.. when traffic started to open up, so did the Charger. It came blistering around us, and I must say, it was loud!!! Certainly was not an R/T, because they aren't that loud. It sounded like it had an aftermarket exhaust system, possibly with an x-pipe.

Could it have been the new SRT/8 with the rumored 6.4L HEMI? It was far louder than any stock Mustang or Camaro, and almost made me shat myself.

Dodge can do a lot with simplicity. Always have.

Love the back end on the new Charger. Chrysler seems to be finally coming around and pulling their collective heads out of their ass.

head wasn't always up their asses....

Yeah, I've already set up an appointment to test drive one as soon as my local dealer gets one, but there's two things I'll have to watch out for--next model year, the 2012 Charger will add a six-speed A/T and also, the previous generation Chargers are very ubiquitous, which could mean possibly these new ones might be as well, which could still mean bad resale value.

The rear is pure win!!! But wtf with the side scallops? They dont even flow with the body lines??? Its more of an afterthought its like they tried to blend the dukes of hazzard era charger with this one (at least do two scallops per door like the ol' general). That and the craigar/mustang knock offs (wheels) gotta go!!!

I'd be more concerned with those oil drips..

K cars were hot back in the day. I'd love an 85/86 Daytona Shelby Turbo Z.

If you ever had the misfortune of driving a base level K car sedan I defy you to say that.

Three months of a K car cursed with more gremlins than those silly movies after I got my license was enough to drive me off ever owning any Chryco product (unless I lived within 2km of a Chryco dealership )

It was the K car that actually saved the brand however. They wouldn't be here today without that little cheap nugget.

True enough, I guess I just got lucky enough to get the "literal" *nugget* (poop nugget that is)

That car would only start on warm dry days, anything else and I was practically spraying it with the blood of virgins to get it to even turn over, NVM start

My dad bought one as a work car back in 80/81. They were really bare bones automobiles. His had no accessories but AC. Cheap plastics and vinyl seats were norm but it had a fuel efficient engine and a 4 speed MTX that was bullet proof. Hell, I'm not sure that Mopar could afford to put anything nicer on the road at the time. Not to mention that interest rates were through the roof back then. They have indeed made a lot of progress since then.

are you serious, a Tiburon? I am pretty sure the scallops on the new one are a throwback to the 68-70 Charger. Not a Korean car that wasn't made until 1996.
[/quote]

No I was saying the scallop on the side was. That and the late 60's-70's chargers had two scallops on the front leading edge of the doors. They were small not that pronounced.
