2011 Dodge Charger SRT/8

A few weeks ago, I was in Detroit for a Tigers game. As we entered into rush hour traffic, I saw what I first thought was a covered 2011 Charger. It had fairly nice looking wheels, like you would find on an R/T model. As we got closer, sure enough... definitily a new Charger.

Here's the twist.. when traffic started to open up, so did the Charger. It came blistering around us, and I must say, it was loud!!! Certainly was not an R/T, because they aren't that loud. It sounded like it had an aftermarket exhaust system, possibly with an x-pipe.

Could it have been the new SRT/8 with the rumored 6.4L HEMI? It was far louder than any stock Mustang or Camaro, and almost made me shat myself.

Yeah, I've already set up an appointment to test drive one as soon as my local dealer gets one, but there's two things I'll have to watch out for--next model year, the 2012 Charger will add a six-speed A/T and also, the previous generation Chargers are very ubiquitous, which could mean possibly these new ones might be as well, which could still mean bad resale value.

ZF 8 spd will deput on 300 and Charger -- possibly later this year on '12 models.

can we say tiburon rip off

are you serious, a Tiburon? I am pretty sure the scallops on the new one are a throwback to the 68-70 Charger. Not a Korean car that wasn't made until 1996.

It is closer to the 1970 scallops and I'd say a direct styling usage. Not too shabby IMO.

yeah they eliminated the small middle body line but overall shape is from those years. I just meant I don't think Dodge said hmm, those are sweet scallops on that Hyundai.. haha

any who, I wanna see someone steal a challenger manual tranny (from a wrecked one of course) and put it in the new charger.

lol....nope..I'd say the Tiburan was never mentioned in the Mopar design department. Most of these Mopar boys are super gear heads. MTX in a new one will happen rather soon...just won't know it until you're watching his tail lights disappear.

fiat=gearhead's :dur: j/k j/k

I am all for retro styling but that side profile scallop is a$$ ugly in my opinion (move it 6-10" forward it may work). That and they should have hidden the rear door handle in the "c" pillar or something to at least make it look something like the old chargers (2 doors)
