Getting pretty disgusted with Ford's seeming inability to get the brake issue(s) on the Taurus fixed... so I went a drove a Regal the other day. Based on a 10 minute test drive, I'm pretty well sure I would've bought the Regal over the Taurus had they both been available. Smaller all around than the Ford, but very nicely put together. You'll be seeing a lot of these on the road once they get some inventory built up.
There's probably not one car brand that I don't like. I like at least one car from every brand quite a lot...which, obviously makes new car decision making quite challenging...

Yeah, I can't think of a brand other than Nissan that I wouldn't buy. IMO, it makes new car shopping 10x more fun. More choices=more test drives, more alternatives. I wish there had been more alternatives to my current car, though. Very few people make affordable wagons
I'm not sure I'd buy a GM..maybe. Chrysler, no. Not at least until their 8 speed and pentastar V6 has been on the road long enough to be proven. My Nissan Xterra was great so I have no beef w/ them
Every car, even within its on Make and its on Company is a little bit different. I don't try to put them all under one blanket. The same goes with brand confidence over time. The mentality is understandable but somewhat nonsensical in the grand scheme of things.
I mean, if I bought a Ford Escort in 1996 and it was the worst car I ever driven, it really shouldn't make much sense for me to ignore a Lincoln 2011 MKX just because they shared some name over the decades.
The first Turbo was a beautiful Summit White with T04 package. Automatically I was a bit disappointed because I really wanted to test drive a Regal with the 19" Wheels and IDCS (Interactive Drive Control System - Buick's active dampening system that allows the car's suspension, transmission, braking..etc to adjust to the driver/car feedback. This is automatic, but you can so select a 'Tour' setup for a soft, comforting ride or 'Sport' for a firmer suspension and more dynamic performance). I went ahead and test drove the T04 anyway for about 10 minutes.
I liked the ride in the T04 a lot, but it felt too much like a powerful version of the CXL, so I was adamant about driving one of the Regals they had with the IDCS. They had to wheel out their loaded T07 showroom Regal Turbo here:
Wow, what a difference! After driving two Turbos back to back, one without and one with the IDCS, the choice was clear that if I ever got a Regal, it had to have the IDCS. The responsiveness and handling was just much more dynamic and the upgraded car was just so much more fun to drive! Buick recommended premium fuel for maximum performance potential and I thought it performed pretty well as the dealers had just regular octane in it.

I had a Neesahn Centra in the past and it was very problematic. Many visits to the dealer to solve gear linkage issues. Does the extera have the first aid kit built in to the rear door?.

I don't think it was that bad. That wasn't too harsh, you think?

The point is that he's trolling for the sole purpose of being an ass after I (and others) called him on a BS statement. Check his last half a dozen posts, not just the last one in this thread. For the record, you're one of the people he was referring to. He doesn't like when people "advocate" for something that's not a Ford product.
Maybe I've been on forums and message boards for way too long, but I've seen so much worse..
I guess I'm glad I'm not making the decisions around here.
In an attempt to keep on topic, has anyone here even SEEN a Buick Regal on the roads? I think the CXL version of the car has been out in the streets since last August and since, I can count the number of Regals I've seen on one hand.
But I guess that might not be saying much as I moved from Detroit since September and I'd suspect it'd be a different story if I was still in the Metro Detroit area. I remember when the new Buick Lacrosse was first released, I was seeing one almost every week for a good 5 months.
I've seen a few. Usually still old people though. I don't know if Buick is going to accomplish what they had hoped for. The GS is a very nice looking car but I can see the price being too high for the type of performance it's going to offer. If they kept it around 28k I'd be interested. I foresee high 30's though.

Buick GS for $28k? That's nuts.
I've driven in a lot of cars and the Regal is not just any other midsizer. It's more on the level of the entry premium segment and its price premium is justified....to an extent. Buick is calling this car "luxury sports sedan" and even though it probably wouldn't win any first place honors versus a Benz or Lexus, I think they have every right to call it that when looking at the price differences.
I will agree and say that the GS will probably be a bit too costly in compared to the Regal Turbo. It's probably a smarter choice to get a Regal Turbo and tune/mod it up and save a couple of $$$. According to my estimates, a GS base will probably be around $33-$34k and should reach $38-39k fully loaded, which I don't think is quite a big enough difference from the Turbo to warrant that kind of price premium. The Regal, when reasonably optioned, can still remain quite competitive, but I can see this car appealing to those buyers looking for something fresh, new, and different and with the kind of materials, style, and build quality that represents something a little bit more than just the biggest bang for the buck.

I've seen much worse, too. That's why he only rec'd a temporary "mute", not even a ban.
I've seen a few Regals on the road. The only thing I don't like about them is the butt crack. Why do designers think some cars need to end in a crease? LOL

You must be a dedicated ass man, but I never even pay attention to such a minor design detail, lol.

What can I say? I drive a 4 cylinder Outback, the ass end of other cars is pretty much all I get to look at.

I think it's a compliment for a car to have a nice ass, then. I think it was design choice to help accuentate the symmetry of the car's scalloped lines on the body connecting to the rear tail lights. I like it.
