i might still browse around the forums a bit.

and there is a reason why i bought the 5 year 100000 mile warranty. haha. the dealership is pretty easy on performance parts with it. they wont void me over stupid bullshit. plus i know one of the service advisers..

You really need to wonder when ford is going to get its head out of its rear and bring the rs here? Or start svt up again or svo. Yea dad needs a 400+hp taurus but guess what. Young kids have more disposable income. The need to bring over a less optioned rs with the 305hp. because they will probably market the rs in the 30k+ range while srt and chevy have 25k contenders. Hell even just throw the ecoboost in the fusion sport and let us have that. Damn conservatives at ford!!!! I want the lightning and svt contour and svt focus back. rant over. again low 13's isnt earth shattering. but ford needs to step up and not with boutique cars full on standard lineup cars that we can steal parts off of!!!!

Well, what's so special about those cars? The SVT focus and contour can handle but were still slow. The SRT4 was cool but that's gone. The cobalt SS is also now gone. Maybe there's just no market for little tuners? The STi has gotten soft (IMO) and the Evo is still awesome as ever but Mitsubishi isn't in the best position right now. Ford seems to be doing the right thing. If they felt an SVT focus would sell right now I think they'd do it. Right now they are trying to stay alive..not please kids.

Ford has little concern about staying alive even better now that toyota and honda are screwing the pooch with thier recalls. Ford has the ability with rummaging thru existing parts bins to make a sweet under 30k pocket rocket. Expecially with the mondeo platform. Hell even steal the turbo motor from the speed 3. Mazda and ford share so many parts, blocks engines transmissions etc but ma' ford is still tooling along in her jelopy (sp?)

Yes the mustang is her "performance car" but hell its getting its ass spanked by every other manufacturer out there. 300hp on a 4.6 250 on the 4.0? come on our 3.0-3.5 make that hp. Yes i know torque is way different. We have the ecoboost motor in several cars already all the technology is there all the computer maps are done all the work is good to go. Give us the fusion sport xr or something. Hell the aussies get an obnoxous 450+hp frp falcon. I blame the EPA.

Ford is still threatened by GM, especially now. And I won't argue with you too much over it (especially since we'll probably meet in the future and it would be awkward) bit you DO know about the 412HP 5.0 Coyote in the mustang and the Ecoboost in the 6 banger stang..right?

BIGGEE are you a closet government motors (GM) fan?  Yes I knew about the "upcoming motors" for the mustang (2011) but chevy will uncork the 505hp 6.2L for the ss and dodge is on life support so we wont see much from srt to offset the 400hp ponie. they dont need to as most srt vehicles are well over 400hp.   I see a whole new world of ecoboost parts coming when they put it in the mustang though!!!!!  that means the "sport" guys will get all sorts of performance goodies to buy  :(

As for arguing we can have a "debate" later this spring

he new Camaro just did not strike the heritage note that the Mustang or Challenger did. I lived through the 70s and saw the muscle cars in the day, because the 60s cars were still common place on the road. Although Government Motors launched the Camaro well will a huge movie, the appeal seems lack lustered, my opinion I guess. Or maybe because I see SO many of them on the back of trucks coming from Oshawa (GM plant) that I am bored. I would grab the new 'Stang GT anyday just from the way it sits still, let alone the smile a drive creates :)

I do have to laugh as the mustang has outsold year after year the camaro/firebird platform even though it has always been a dog from the factory compared to gm performance cars. Also the one "world class" car they built (the GT "gt-40") they only built a few and all had a major issue. But it was a race car for the road!!!! Thanks to Steeda and Saleen and Roush they can become insane cars. I understand the vette is an icon but I see more vettes on the road than camaroes. (trust me my son yelles BUMBLEBEE!!! every time he sees one) Also the "super snake" is no where near the vettes level. Its still an unbalanced (nose heavy) solid rear axle beast. They should have kept the rear IRS from the 2000-2004 cobras.

IRS is coming back but I still like the tried and true solid axle. I think it's DELTAJOHN on here who has a vette and he complains about it's build quality. I'm a car fan, not just a ford fan either way but the mustang is a much better value IMO. Plus speaking of HP what's a regular vette packing now? I know it's not much more than a 5.0 mustang..

I heard that many people didn't like the IRS in the Cobra, and that people actually preferred the Solid Rear. Maybe it was just the fact that it was designed for a certain model and the body wasn't adjusted to better fit/work with the IRS?

UK: I have been lucky to drive a 98 cobra and a 2002 cobra both modded. (suspension and both blown) the 98 in a straight line goes like snot (plants squats and goes!!) however in the corner (seat of the pants) gets a$$ happy way to fast. The 2002 cobra straight line bounces the hell out of the rear tires if you spin them but around corners seems more planted (again seat of the pants) but both are pigs as they nose over into turns under braking and the understeer is scary at times. If your drag racing definitely live axle if your scca IRS is the way to go. But suffice I am a "DAD" so I have to have a family car. I miss my mustang :(

biggee: yea for 10k less thats alot of performance parts from a gt500 to a vette?
