Can't believe this car hasn't made it into here yet.

Cost less then the Dodge Charger R/T, and yet is faster then it!

The exterior looks way better then the Charger, and has a much nicer interior. The only downside to the G8, is that it is a Pontiac lol!

Saw on the Pontiac website last week that they had $6500 off all remaining vehicles....

Saturn is doing the same as well. I'd take a G8 from pontiac and a Saturn Sky Redline...that's about it.

I love my G8's! RWD cars aren't ideal in the snow, but I figure if i have 12 big storms a year, that's only 12 days out of 365 that I don't enjoy driving!

The gray one is my daily driver. The red one is my show car. (now as I put on my flame suit)I traded in my 04 Mach1 for it. The Mach was just too small for the family trips to car shows. But I did love it! The Fusion sport is my wifes.

WTF?

I've never seen this before in my life! Someone has two of the same car, but different models! One, being a $40k "show" car?

Jeez, you must be a diva! :p Got any stock tips?

Is that gray one a base G8 or a GT? I can't tell...

Not Pontiac. It's a Holden, like the GTO before it. Boy were the ricers pissed when my buddy showed up at their 'import only' drag race with his 600+ HP GTO and showed them the 'made in Australia' label in the door jam....

They are both G8 GT's. The gray one was a 2008 leftover I scored for $22K, and the red one was $29k. G8's didn't take off the way GM hoped, and there some real good incentives out there.

The red one looked like a G8 GXP

Picked up an "auto" magazine (maybe Car & Driver or Motor Trend?) for my recent flight home from St. Louis and in there was a short article about how the G8 was not going to be killed off with Pontiac but would likely be converted into a performance Chevrolet instead.. I didn't pay too much attention to it and don't remember when etc but it seemed to imply it would be happening.

I believe that I read that article you mention as well. If it is the same article, it talks about an Australian built Holden Monaro (essentially a Pontiac G8) being re-engineered into a U.S. Chevy Impala Police Vehicle. The article is titled "How GM blew its Holden opportunity"

Nope this was a stand alone article, small and strictly about the G8 evolving into a Chevy. So I doubt it was the same magazine article you are referring to. The magazine I read was this months issue I believe, March 2010 maybe (or April? - I left it on the jet,) but I don't recall the name. I t had a bunch of the new Buicks on the front cover though and was full of Buick articles.

April 2010 Motor Trend, page 16.

I hadnt read it before I saw this post, but I recognized the description you gave of the cover. Its actually the holden commodore. I would love to import one if it doesnt get back into the US. They say it may happen in 5 years or so. They are waiting for the redesign of the commodore.

I don't know who or what a "Holden Commodore" is or was, and I don't remember reading that name but I do remember the Pontiac G8 name from the article. Are you sure its the same magazine? The one I read had bigger articles about the Buick LaCross and Regal in it. Buicks were on the cover too.

I honestly dont think we're talking apples to apples about the magazine article. I don't recall reading anything about a police version. It was strictly G8 and Chevrolet and only a few short paragraphs. The magazine also had an article about the new Ford Fiesta maybe? (The sporty new Ford econobox)

Holden commodore:

It is the G8's Australian twin

I still haven't read the magazine (other than this article), and I forgot it at home, but I remember it having three buicks on the front and it mentioned them being comparable to an acura, maybe a lexus, and something else. Nothing was mentioned about the police vehicle in the article.

I really hope this car shows up again...

EDIT:

Here is what I read.

the Monaro didnt come far away from Opel Omega that we know in Europe... And its a GTO only since last year, while the Holden Monaro was around for... GT?

But the double kidney grille is not really a rip off of the BMW, since Pontiac was using it for a very long time as well, its not their fault that BMW went upwards fromt he 70s, and Pontiac went south. So easy there on the grill. And the original GTO is nothing like this rip off, anyone who knows classics will tell you that
