How to keep dust off the car??

After I wash my car, dust collects right away on the car. Is there a way to wash it differently so it doesnt happen?? Or is there a way to remove static from the car, so it doesnt collect on the car.

I have no Fusion. I have a Miata.

I need a new sig.

You could use one of those giant california dusters or w/e they're called. I have the same problem, I think it's natural. The back where the trunk lid ends and the bumper begins collects a lot of dust. Or, wash it after it's recently rained so there is less dust in the air.

Hi acedeuce. Unfortunately no, there is no way to wash the car or "remove the static". And the darker the paint color of your car, the more obvious the dust, pollen and other airborne contaminants will be.

The only reasonable alternatives that will keep dust from collecting on your car is park in a garage or use a car cover.

If you can't do that, then as TU stated your best bet is to purchase a "California Car Duster" or another quality alternative and dust it when necessary. Don't go cheap. I have a California Car Duster in the trunk of each of my cars.

I also find it very helpful to dust the car in the early evening before letting the car sit for the night. In this way, if you live in an area where dew forms overnight on your cars finish, there is less dust to mix with the dew and the finish stays cleaner overnight into the morning.

Also, follow the instructions. The Cal Car Duster is not for cleaning very dirty or soiled cars. It is simply for dusting waxed cars.

But again, there is no special treatment you can do to prevent dust and other airborne contamination from settling on your car. Just parking in a garage or a car cover.

Good luck.

Re: How to keep dust off the car??

Thanks guys, I am 16, and only had my car/license for 3 weeks, so I still don't know all the tips and tricks to stuff like this. I will get one of the California Dusters, this seems like it will work great.

And dry it well to avoid water spots, etc...  I use this drying towel called "The Absorber."  Works great. I think I bought mine from a parts store and bought one for my wife at Walmart.

I just bought "The absorber" a couple days ago, I haven't got a chance to try it out, but will in the next couple of days.

I have one too, but haven't had too much luck with it. Maybe I'm doing it wrong lol.
