What size allen wrench? - Oil Drain Plug

I have a 2008 Ford Fusion SE with a 2.3L I4.

Can anyone tell me what size allen wrench I need to use for the oil filter drain plug? For the life of me I can not figure it out.

None -- just remove the complete cap -- with Autozone cap wrench. I never removed mine. It's 1 less thing to worry about -- and 1 less o-ring to replace.

That is what I am currently doing and it is a pain in the ass. Not to mention messy as hell.

Yeah, it is not that hard to replace the o-ring.. I'm really not too worried about that.

Does anyone know the wrench size?

A Google search states 6mm for Mazda. Just buy a cheap set.

No matter what you do, oil changes will always be a pain in the Fusion

Thanks, I will have to give that a try.

Do you really think the oil change on the Fusion is that hard. Everything is right there. If you want to see a difficult oil change try a 2004 Honda Civic EX.. You have the take off the front drivers side tire, and have hands like a 5 year old.

The Fusion is a walk in the park compared to this beast.

I believe its 6 mm....http://robert.aitchison.org/tiki-pag...DIY+Oil+Change I never remove the allen screw just the whole cap. There is a coversion kit if you don't like the cartridge when you are out of warranty of course....http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=146390.0

Re: What size allen wrench? - Oil Drain Plug

I am about to change the oil on my V6 this weekend for the first time, should i expect any surprises? Am I correct by assuming the tedious oil change process is only for the I-4 engines and not the V6? I do not have to swap out any o-rings do I?

Sorry I have not had a chance to get under the car yet.

If you want black headlights for your Fusion like in my pic, PM me.

I have both engines and the six is easier . They make a special cap type wrench which has 36 flutes and fits the FL820S Motorcraft filter. I find it works the best and is available from Autozone.

Re: What size allen wrench? - Oil Drain Plug

ya the v6 is so much easier. no gaskets to change just an fl-820 filter (motorcraft) and a 13 mm wrench.
