Exhaust question/opinion!

Hey guys/gals.

So I've been thinking of gutting the cats to free up some hp.

Now here's the pickle I'm currently in. My current system is stock with a muffler delete. I know that it will be louder with gutted cats but I'm afraid it will be crazy loud with lots of drone which I don't really want.
I have also been thinking of gutting the cats and adding vibrant mufflers to the stock system.
I've also thought of picking up a Magnaflow cat back system and gutting the cats.

Now here's the question. The factory system flows pretty good and is 2.25". The magnaflow system is also 2.25" that flows well. But does the magnaflow piping really make a difference over stock?

From what I've read the big restriction is the cats so i might as well weld some vibrant mufflers onto the stock exhauat and be done with it.

Thoughts?

Cliffs:
Option 1- gutted cats with muffler delete
Option 2- gutted cats with magnaflow catback
Option 3- gutted cats and vibrant mufflers on stock system.

lmfao!

Ok Priced a few things out on Ebay. The total prices are what ebay shows, on the list I'm leaving out cents.

Vibrant Resonators x 2- 171
Exhaust Tips x2 - 130
Rear Y-pipe- 80
Flex pipe- 16
Front Y-pipe/mid pipe- 84
2.5 to 2.25 reducer- 5

Total- 486.70
Shipping to Canada- 154.79
Import Charges- 61.38

Total- 702.87

I still haven't included some mandrel bent piping, I've found a few websites that were cheaper then E-bay and it came to just shy of $50. If i re-use the factory tips it would be closer to the $630 above.

So total around 750 plus labor of putting it all together.

Magnaflow- 893.46 Shipped Canadian or 739 USD

hollenjoe I have no idea how you were to find everything so cheap! I think it's the Canadian shipping that's killing me.

you dont need a rear Y pipe, the stock rear one is actually good you just need:

y pipe, flex pipe, resonators, a 90 degrees mandrel bent 2" and a 45 degrees mandrel bent 2". you don't actually need a reducer since most exhaust shops are able to expand the 2.25 to 2.5" so you can mate them.

and mandrel bends were like 15 bucks each

I didn't use tips, i like the stock ones and my magnaflows were half the price of those vibrants

Thanks man! I was thinking I needed to bump up to a 2.5" from the axle back.

Makes sense, I don't really need exhaust tips, they're stupid expensive. That reducer was killing me on shipping too.

Plus I need to pick up the vibrant's because I already got rid of my stock mufflers. I'll be keeping the stock resonator bc I plan to gut the manifolds.
