I just bought a 2013 1.6L and this is my first turbo car. Does anyone know If you add the steeda intake if you have to do any kind of tuning since it's turbo?
Also... I want to add a blow off valve that gives more of the turbo sound. I'm looking at the boomba blow off valve. Is that a good one? Does the 1.6L ecoboosteven have blow off valve that you can upgrade?
Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I'm pretty sure it have a stock diverter valve (it's like a blow of valve but it sends the air back into the intake). But I don't know if these car can take a bov without getting a check engine or running weird. And you don't need a tune with only a cold air intake but you should get one. On a turbo car you can get a lot of power with a tune.
You do not have to get a tune, but you won't see much of an increase in power with the 1.6 without getting a tune. I just purchased one from Livernois motorsports. Should be waiting at my house tonight when I get off work.
As for the BOV, it's actually a solenoid driven bypass valve. You can, like me, buy Boomba Racing's BOV adapter, which allows the bypass valve to vent into the atmosphere instead of back into the intake.
I love the sound myself. Let me know if you need some pointers installing it; it's not very difficult but you have to take off the passenger wheel and go in that way.
