Anyone heard of these or tried? I am SOOOOO skeptical when it comes to these "tuners." In fact, I had never heard of this until an hour ago when some people on a facebook group was singing it's praises....For $70 if it delivers 1/3 of what is advertised I'd say its worth it. Just curious, anyone try one on a Sport?

I think I've heard of these before and they are those that tap into the IAT signal. Pretty well snake oil that can harm your engine.

EDIT:

I should add how it works. It basically hooks onto your IAT (intake air temprature) sensor and gives it a false reading to trick your ECU that it is gettin cooler air. This effects your fuel trim and makes your car run rich. This doesn't do anything for power or gas mileage except make both (most likely) worse. It also causes your motor to always run rich so it will have more carbon buildup which can cause pinging and detonation which is all bad.

I think the only proper "chip" is to get a tune for your car through a reputable tuner like SCT.

Yeah I did more research, but won;t our ECU's pick up on this and self adjust anyway? They advertise it as the lean it out more...and while lean is mean and powerful...I don;t won't to detonate. It's not that I don't mind pissing $60 away, but I don;t want to damage the car.

Yeah I would hope our cars would adjust for it anyways and if that's the case no harm done, but no extra power or mpg's either (not that you would get any gain if our cars didn't adjust).

The way see it our cars read the air coming into the motor, add a specific amount of fuel and spark for the best possible explosion in each cylinder.

A $60 "chip" isn't going to make it any better, I'd trust the Ford engineers.

I laugh when I see these 'chips' advertised, someone buys one and then always puts it up for resale on Craigslist. They spew the same nonsense that they believed the chip would do in their ad. Questions regarding these chips always pop up on all auto forums, and it's a good thing there is a place to ask about them. As BB stated above, get an SCT tuner and program your car with a proper tune.
