Movies of new Ford PCM tune...

Since my ISP allows me only a teeny-tiny amount of web-space, I decided to use YouTube to host these videos.

Here is a movie of normal driving, showing the quicker, smoother shifting.

Here is a movie of how the tune reacts during a cold start. It was around 39 degrees.

Here is a movie of acceleration at night, from 0mph to 90mph.

Here is a movie of acceleration during the day on an expressway entrance ramp, from 0mph to 95mph.

Let me know if you want to see any others. I'll do what I can.

What is interesting?

The funny part is, thats the stock Ford tune! He has to send me the new calibration so I can show him that it can still be improved.

With the new calibration, power and acceleration feel completely linear - almost as if the V6 was transformed into an electric motor. Ford must've really worked hard on flattening the torque curve. The movies show just a hint of this (they totally rock, btw). You need to experience it for yourself. My passengers have commented how the Fusion seems more confident, smooth, and responsive now.

So when he sends you his updated PCM flash, you will make a new set of tunes?

Can I get one? (91 Torque)

Customers who have bought tuners from us will get free tune updates, if they get the PCM reflashed. BE SURE TO SET YOUR CAR BACK TO STOCK before you take it back to the dealership!

Bob, I sent you my strategy, looking forward to you and Doug working your wonders!

Woo, a sticky. When I get Bob's new tune, I'll post different videos as well. Wish I had a more accurate means of like, showing you all stuff, lol.

My appointment  is made for next Saturday!  I can't wait!

This, along with the lighting upgrade and high-grade aftermarket dealer-installed leather seating surfaces, made me feel like I purchased a much more expensive car. The new calibration's power/torque curve linearity will truly and demonstrably increase your joy of driving. Let us know what you think!

Lighting upgrade? What is that, if you can share.

Incompetent dealer story:

I have an 06 Zephyr with less than 3000 miles and the only issue I noticed was the fast idle on a cold start (1900 for about 10 sec then 1600 or so then after a minute or two down to 900) which I actually thought was normal until I read about the latest PCM and TCM.  There is also a very slight hesitation after a rolling stop at times which I thought might be corrected with a re-program.  I made an appt. with the dealer and advised them of TSB 06-21-11.  The service writer really acted like he didn't have a clue when I mentioned the TSB etc. which didn't surprse me. He told me the techs would have to check it out first. So I dropped it off and left a printout of the TSB which had the symptoms listed.  Later that day when I called to get a ready time for the car the service writer told me they didn't have the latest TSB software and they were trying to work around it ???   I told him just to forget about it until they get the software and I will bring the car in then. He said that was fine but they were trying to get the check engine light to go off.   I told him it wasn't on when I dropped it off and he told me he was aware of that but when the techs were reading the program they kicked it on??   After a couple of hours he called and told me the car was ready and it should run better and if it doesn't that they will have the new program and to bring it back in.  The way it ran wasn't really the problem in the first place.  I also told him that if he had checked on his computer or whatever for the TSB when I first called in that it would have saved us both a lot of time.   He was nice but I still don't think he understands anything about his job.  I picked the car up and it seems to run great as it did before so I don't think they screwed it up too badly but I am still going to take it in and get the latest PCM/TCM.  This is my wife's car and I don't want her popping in gear in the snow with it idling at 2 grand or so.  He told me Ford has to send the program to them in the mail which I don't know if true or not.

Sounds to me like they don't keep their equipment updated. All the latest PCM calibrations are available for download from a Ford website. If they set the check engine light on then they did some reprogramming. The check engine light is set when they forget to set parameters like FWD, cruise control and tire size/axle ratio after reprogram. Good luck.

The Russian,
When you say "got my Fusion back today," what did you mean? Back from the dealer? Did they reprogram the PCM? What was done that made you notice a difference?

You video is very compelling. This is a factory re-tune/reprogramming of the PCM? Did the dealer do it under warranty? I really am interested in getting this done with my Fusion SEL V6. Your 0-90 was a whole lot quicker than mine is presently. Yours seems to reach RPMs a whole lot faster, shifts look quicker also. And this is a TSB? What is the TSB again? Do you need to have a problem in order to have the reprogramming done?

Well, some dealers will make you say you have a problem to get the TSB done. Kinda like they think "if it ain't broke don't fix it."

I lied and told them I had a problem and they fixed it. It was free, under warranty and is the FORD tune. I am awaiting the return of my X2 from Bob to see what he can do.
