Change of Forum Management

Dear Users of FMVperformance Automotive Communities sites:

Today marks a special day for FMVperformance sites including Mazda3Forums.com and FordFusionClub.com. As of now, FMVp sites will be owned and operated by AutoGuide.com. MZ3sZoomZoom, Operator and I, as well as the rest of the moderation team, will remain in place to oversee the day-to-day front-facing operations of the site, but the back end Ė including paying the bills, running the servers, and attracting advertisers Ė will be done by AutoGuide.com.

Other than some new admins doing the site maintenance and behind-the-scenes work, very little will change. As an end user, you will still have access to all our forums, galleries, and other features.

The history of our sites, especially Mazda3Forums.com and FordFusionClub.com, is a long one, and much has changed. In 2003 when I and a group of like-minded folks launched Mazda3Forums.com, we were moderators and users of Mazda6Club.com looking for a place to discuss the Mazda3. Likewise, less than a year later Mazda6Club and we agreed that FordFusionClub.com should be launched as a sister site to us. Today, Mazda6Club.com is owned by AutoGuide.com and I am the only remaining original admin or content creator. In 2003, I was an undergraduate student at Bentley College with too much time on my hands. Today, Iím an attorney in Connecticut needing to make a living. Weíve had various problems with the servers over the past year or so, and Iíve had less and less time to deal with them. When AutoGuide.com offered to purchase the forums, it was an opportunity I felt fair to both the users and myself.

I will still be involved in the sites, as time and interest permits. However, this new arrangement allows me to free to have fun with the sites as I see fit, while removing the headaches associated with running them. Due to time constraints, Iíve rarely been on the sites over the last couple years, and our moderation and administration teams have done a great job of keeping the sites running. That also means that little should change for the end user Ė Iím just being replaced by an entity with more resources, time, and interest.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to let us know. If you have a desire to contact me directly, I will still be available on these forums as MZ6ZoomZoom or on e-mail at drhamad(at)fmvperformance.com.

Re: Change of Forum Management

Hey guys!

Just wanted to introduce my self to you all. My name is Phil and I am a community manager for Autoforums.com and will be taking over the WebMaster duties for Daniel. I posted a real basic run down to answer common questions below. If you have more questions or concerns please post them. In the mean time I want to know what you guys need or think needs to be added or changed to the site from a Member's perspective.

What are our intentions?

We bring reliability, support and the infrastructure needed to ensure that the community will be around for years to come. Itís our goal to work with you to as a team to help provide the resources and required to give this community a broader reach, to attract new members to better the overall knowledge shared in the community.

Will leadership change?

Continuity is the focus here, You as forum mods work very hard to keep the walls and the roof up in this place we are just here to make sure the lights stay on. Every community is unique and should always be respected in that regard. You guys have established your own unique rules and regulations and a strong reputation that is carried by all of this and itís important that we maintain this level of integrity.

What am I here for?

My primary role is to be the technical contact as I said earlier you all built the foundation and keep the roof from falling, I am here keeping the lights on inside. I will be on the forum checking in daily to make sure regular maintenance is all taken care of and keep things running smoothly from behind the scenes.

I do look forward to getting to know you all and this unique community better.

Philip

Change of Forum Management

I think I can speak for everybody when I say we need a theme change. Our past and current themes have all been ridiculously bright. Something darker, or with a larger portion of darker elements, would be great.

Along those same lines, our forum looks slightly childish. I'm a member on a few forums, such as NASIOC, ClubRoadster and ClubLexus, and when I come back to M3F, I just don't get the professional feeling that those forums exude.

Just a few things to consider...

I think the Forum should stick to cars not what you had for breakfast.

You feel there is too much off topic banter on the forum?

Yeah, get rid of the lounge all together. I sure come here everyday solely to answer the same questions about wheel fitment because people can't read stickies.

While certain people may not like "off-topic" banter, it's what we as humans are prone to. it's entertaining and draws people in. if you don't want banter, don't join a forum... compile all of the forums information into a database that people can query. problem is, databases don't attract advertisers...

Re: Change of Forum Management

Why would we ever get rid of the lounge? If you don't want to read off topic threads, don't click on the Lounge. After all, that's why there's a separate subforum for just that purpose.

Autoguide isn't a not-for-profit, they need to make money off of this forum. Overall activity (and therefore sponsor exposure) would be down drastically if you removed non-car related subforums.

Re: Change of Forum Management

Let me be clear, I have no interest in removing the lounge. I was only clarifying Gilbertsville PA's comment about breakfast.
