Im dissapointed by the response so far but perhaps people are just using other avenues to donate.

yeah, that's my hope too, considering the # of donations so far. i just saw a commercial with Bill Clinton and Bush Sr. about donating to some website. There does seem to be a lot of avenues to contribute to the cause, so that is very possible. The title may be hard to catch too. If someone's just looking for info about headlights, they may just go right where that is.

In any case, I just thought it was a great idea by Mazda3forums to recognize the disaster that has occurred overseas and create a fund to contribute. Proud to be on a great forum otherwise that is also globally aware.

Yes,

I have to applaud the efforts of this forum as well. It is awesome that you are providing a way for people who might not otherwise know how to contribute to help out.

But, I do think a lot of people are helping out in in their own way...especially on a local scale.

I spent the cold-arse weekend standing in the snow chipping Christmas trees. Our civic government is matching our funds raised. We got $1300 in two days.

That's the good news, the bad news is I think I lost a few toes to frostbite!

^^^ Hey that's pretty good (the funds raised, not your toes )
I donated $100 to the Canadian Red Cross last week. I am also sure that many others on this board are finding ways to help out; there seem to be a lot of kind hearted people on here.

Yeah, that's the prob... I'm not sure that what is donated through us can be deducted from taxes. You get a receipt from us obviously, but I'm not sure that that means anything I don't know either way.

How come there was nevere a thank you letter from red cross to this site? I would think that they would post some where about this donation.

I'm pretty sure we get the letter once we hit $1500 and send the money to them.
